Sian says the banker's upped his game. She feels something good is in her box but doesn't know if she wants to risk the money based on a hunch.

Sian says that money will do everything they want to do, so she's happy with that.

Stephen reminds Sian that she now has to play on as she would've done.

Stephen says this is like the perfect game.

18 - Pete - £100

Banker time

No chance she'd have gotten £26,000 in live play, 15k tops.

Nice to have it back.

Think it suffers a bit from not having the £250k. Means offers are generally gonna be a bit low ball and removes a bit of the jeapordy from having that huge value in play.

Graphics are a nice refresh but I think the set is a bit generic ITV gameshow and lacks the character of the dream factory.

As ever it struggles with an hour runtime. Should really have gone with 45 mins especially with the lowered prizes.

What did everyone think about the first episode? I thought it was ok except for the fact that there was lots f breaks at key moments.

Long time no see! :D

Those first 4 offers were shockingly bad. £17,500 though, that was a definite DEAL for me!

Quite enjoyed that but have a feeling it's going to be difficult to get more than that without opening the box. Under the old system, that 5-box would have been 250k/75k/35k/20k/£50 which was probably in the top 5% or so of 5-box boards and you could have expected an offer in the 30s.

And I hate to say it but I found Stephen better than Noel believe it or not and also like the fact that the player wasn't supposedly penalised for not showing a poker face.

I am wondering if Sian will be replaced by someone new on the wings tomorrow or take her place back and all these 22 open boxes for each other until they've all played. The cynic in me thinks the later and they deliberately started on a show with a good result to lure people back ;-)

So glad that Deal or No Deal is back. Used to love it as a kid after school.

Does anyone know how long this series will last? I think this episode highlights the importance of a narrative in deal or no deal. What happened yesterday? Are we on a run of bad games? Is the banker in a silly mood? Has someone had a run of reds? etc etc. (Noel was brilliant at bigging up the narrative!)

So I hope ITV give it a really good go and it's not something that's around for 4 or 5 weeks only to disappear. The narrative, in my opinion, is what makes it.

Sage words, and so true! That continuity was something Noel was exceptional at bringing to the show and keeping alive from one week, one month, one year to the next. I think Stephen will be pretty good at it too, but of course with the first episode there's not really much you can do to create a narrative that doesn't exist yet

Having missed the first commentated episode on the forum the first time around, it's great to be here for Deal Or No Deal, 2.0 - looking forward to the future, wherever it may take us...and this wasn't a bad way to kick things off! :-D

A few of us who were once part of the furniture, once stalwarts of the grand and extravagant, exuberant and thriving forum, have receded back into the walls, still faintly visible, still here as poignant, reminding relics of an era gone by; but most of us have vanished, forever immersed in the mists of time.

I was a bit cynical about how this would go given the much reduced money tree and the worse buying power of the pound, but that was a decent start in all honesty. Definitely one of the strongest games we'll see on this run I'm sure, so will be interesting to see how the lower stakes games are going to pan out.
