The C4 Banker would've probably offered the Ol' Faithful £26K

Rarely, probably late teens/early twenties in more recent years.

Hope I did OK for a first commentary today! Looking forward to doing more :)

Maybe if the player was a massive OHO, but otherwise the offer would've been between 15 to 20k on THAT volatile of a finish.

Now I'm very interested to see what this new Banker is actually prepared to offer in live play there, as it will be an important piece if info to know in deciding on arguable either way 5 box offers like Sian's and Daryl's.

Given that I thought with the new board structure I thought the players would need to be very lucky to get anything above "orange" money, to start with 2 5-figure wins is much more than I expected.

It was great :-D

If anyone wants to do tomorrow's then feel free (I can't make it and I don't think Ronan can either).

When the answer to "what would you do with £11,800" is "helps with wife's maternity leave, means I won't have to work as much overtime so I can spend time with my family, and maybe we'll be able to afford a holiday" it does rather take the shine off things.

Having said all of that of course he's going to deal and the prove out didn't make comfortable viewing especially with the blatant lies rub his face in it offers.

It's a bit depressing isn't it? 15 years ago and that'd be 2 weeks at Disneyland and a new car.

Straight into the savings account for me, where it can start earning by itself! In the...hypothetical scenario in which I...at some point had a spare £11,800... :smt009

Welcome aboard by the way!

I mean, he had £75,000 in his box, so that regret would've been there regardless of the prove-out offers.

If anything the inflated prove-out offers somewhat limit the realistic regrets as there's no way anyone would've gambled anything near the £37,500 stated at 2 box on that finish.

So we still don't know whether those inflated 3 and 2 box offers are blatant lies or whether they genuinely would be that generous.

That aside, another enjoyable game with good tension and a sizeable sum won. Yes, he could've had more if he had played on, but £11,800 is a fantastic amount regardless.

Those first four offers were all over the place though. I hope this isn't going to be a trend where the first offer worth considering is at 5 box every time...

I can’t see those offers playing out in reality, though seem to remember early in the original run there were some generous 2-box offers in live play.

That didn’t last long, though - didn’t first jackpot winner Laura get about £37k offered on £250k/blue?

To answer my own question, it was £45k, but the other box wasn’t even a blue, it was £3,000.

I’d expect around £20k at most for a £75k/blue final pair, a fair number would probably deal less than that.

The generous late game offers early in the show's run famously came to an abrupt end in 1p Trevor's game (1st of March 2006) when he got offered 4 figures on a 4 blues/250k five box.

Still think they should do away with the proveout rounds.
