Mark A's Game Report

The start of the new season so far has turned into games that have been almost 'All or Nothing' games where the games produce small or decent wins with no real middle ground, will today's game keep this theme going?

Noel introduces the show by mentioning Sharron's game yesterday and her becoming the 8th member of the 1p club who have now had to move out of their phonebox and into their new accommodation of a caravan.

Mark with box 15 is today's contestant to take the walk of wealth and is escorted down it by a lively audience, We learn Mark is a police dog handler who does believe in fate and destiny and he tells his story of how fate helped him meet his wife who is in the audience today offering support.

Round 1
7 - 50p the lively audience are given an early chance for cheers
19 - £100,000 produces a few 'ooohs' and 'aahhs'
Noel interrupts here and asks if Mark has a system, he doesn't - Noel suggests he should have brought along his police dog to help sniff out the boxes.
16 - £5,000
11 - £75,000 produces more groans
1 - £750 cheers and applause finish off the round

The banker calls and says 'Ello Ello Ello what's all this then' and that Mark should have been a detective as he is used to following leads, he then offers £4,452. The offer relates to the policeman's number in the children's TV programme Trumpton. Mark says NO DEAL.

Round 2
14 - £500
12 - £100
8 - £50,000

The last box produces a deathly silence in the studio. The banker calls and initially offers £999 before then adding an 8 on the front and offering £8,999. The offer does surprise Mark as he expect lower, he then says NO DEAL.

Round 3
17 - £1,000
20 - £10,000 This box silences the audience until Mark says it's OK and he can cope with it, then applause follows
3 - £10

The police jokes continue with Noel answering the phone as Dixon of Dock Green followed by a line about a cat being stuck up a tree and needing to call in Special Branch, Mark quickly retorts back that he's 'Twigged'. The banker says he is unsure who is ahead at the moment and needs more time to come up with an offer, so Noel stalls and asks a contestant what they think, they come to the same conclusion that it is really balanced at this stage. The banker calls back and makes an offer of £13,000. Mark calls his wife down from the audience for this decision and she says it's a nice offer and by risking going on that if the £250,000 goes in the next round that he will really be forced to play the game until the end, despite her advice Mark is convinced there is at least one more round in the game and says NO DEAL.

Round 4
10 - £3,000 gets big applause and even a few 'whoops'
2 - £1 Mark shouts out 'COME ON'
21 - 1p The studio loves that one as does Mark

Mark says he needs the toilet after that round and the banker must have as well as he takes ages to ring, when he eventually does call he makes an offer of £26,000. Noel says that the banker has rewarded Mark for his courage on the last offer, he then does a sweep of the contestants and audience who all give mixed reactions. Mark thinks for a while before saying DEAL

We now find out if Mark's decision was the right one with the proveout rounds

Proveout Round 5
22 - £20,000
4 - £250
13 - £5 There are sharp intakes of breath all around the studio

Noel turns to Mark who says 'Hindsight is a wonderful thing, but he can live with his decision as long as the £250,000 is not in his box'. The banker calls and says he would have offered £45,027, Mark says he is a little gutted at that.

Proveout Round 6
5 - £250,000 Great applause and relief all around the studio
18 - £35,000
9 - £50

The banker calls and says he would have offered £4,527, Mark says he would have dealt that offer as he would not have wanted to go away with 10p.

Noel opens the box 15 that is sat in front of Mark and reveals 10p, box 6 has the remaining £15,000.

Mark is delighted with his result and we have another win over the banker for the week and another entertaining game.
