I got a call from her family on Monday to tell me that Elaine H (show 36) passed away after a short illness on Sunday. Elaine was one of the few contestants I kept in touch with after DOND and met up whenever I was working in the area- she will be sadly missed. She led life to the full, keeping really active, doing 2 or 3 quiz nights a week and still went to see her son's band play every time they were in the area.
Funeral will be next week, Ill attend if I can- but if there is anyone who wants to send a message on, I'm happy to help.

Bill told us the other day about this, awful news, and to happen to such a young lady too is indeed depressing.

If you're going Andy, an anonymous message to share from me at least but surely from many others on here, that she will be remembered by us hardcore fans of the show!

Not that it makes it any less tragic either way, but as I didn't watch the series at that stage, I looked at the contestant picture thread, which said that Elaine B played Show 36, and Elaine H played before, so I'm not quite sure who has unfortunately passed away. ):

Elaine H was the eldest one.

Only Started Watching DOND from February 06 but that is a shock RIP Elaine

Elaine H was show 36. She was the older Elaine, not the young black woman who was part of the original 22 and played on show 18.

Very sad news indeed, my thoughts are with Elaine's family.

I liked Elaine a lot when she was on the show - it's a shame we've lost her.
