The idents are the things between programmes - you know, like the acrobats BBC 1 used to use.

BBC 1 seem to have theirs out - a group of people rolling up a snowball... :?

BBC 2 have their usual ones out - with the 2 in a block of ice, etc.

ITV 1 don't appear to have any. :?

Channel 4 don't appear to have any.

What about five?

'five' have got some but they're pretty non-descript.

From memory they have some snowy scenes on them and I think they're for some sort of charity....

When BBC 1 had the globe spinning with no sound (between 1991 and 1997, I think), their Christmas one was very boring (did they even have a Christmas one? :? ). But when they changed to the shots of the balloon (hot air balloon), they really pulled the stops out when it came to Christmas... and they did pretty well between 2002 and 2005 with the dancers. This year's is a bit bland, though. :(

The earliest Christmas ident I remember is BBC2's in 1995, with Wallace and Gromit:

Dad remembers when they replaced the globe with a Christmas pudding, which was in 1977...

I liked the BBC Christmas idents they did in 2002 with the snowflake kids and then in 2004 with the kids bouncing on them christmas pudding spacehoppers.

If you scroll to the bottom you can look at other years idents.

Thanks for the link, the one I usually go to re-opens on Christmas Eve or Day I think. I love these old idents/intros/ads etc.
