Hello, and welcome to another edition of Quebec's ultimate game of chance, Le Banquier. On our last show, Archstered turned five bucks into nearly $200,000 in cash and prizes. Will our next contestant equal or surpass that feat? We'll soon find out.

Please welcome to the stage Mr. daniel123 :D! Dan's a longtime commentator on these here forums, and is a member of the illustrious Class of 2006. He's also a budding photographer and writer.

Dan, welcome to the game. By now, you should have a good idea of how we do things around here. Pick a case for yourself and then six more for Round 1.

Bonne chance :smt023!

Actually, we're playing with Canadian dollars ($) here, David.

Thank you Mark for the wonderful welcome, and thanks David!

I'll select case number 17, please; my first six will be 1, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 9. :D

Like Tom Hanks and his football on that island in 'Cast Away', it looks like it's just me and the bots here now. But that's alright, we're having a grand old time. Aren't we, Wilson? WILSOOOON?!

A few of us who were once part of the furniture, once stalwarts of the grand and extravagant, exuberant and thriving forum, have receded back into the walls, still faintly visible, still here as poignant, reminding relics of an era gone by; but most of us have vanished, forever immersed in the mists of time.

17 is one of the cases I'd have picked for myself at the beginning. Either that or 7. The number 7 has always played an important role in my life.

But let's not get carried away here. This game is not about me; it's about you. Let's see what's in those cases.

[1] - $125,000
[3] - Capital One - One of our bonus cases, and it's nice to see it discovered early on. You're now guaranteed $10,000, regardless of the outcome of your game :D.
[4] - $500
[5] - $10
[6] - $150,000
[9] - $200

A pretty decent opening round. Here is your first offer. Five cases to open if you turn it down.

BANKER'S OFFER

$47,000

And now, here's the only French you need to know in this game. Est-ce que cette offre est acceptee ou refusee?

Tres bien fait, monsieur. Vous etes un naturel :smt023.

And now, back to English with Round 2. You're responsible for opening five cases in this round, Dan. What are your selections?

:-D

Thanks Mark, I shall have 26, 24, 23, 22 and 21 next, please. Would it be alright if you could write which cases are remaining after every round? One legendary night at a strange pub in Portsmouth in August wrecked my short-term memory... :smt009

It's juice and jam time.

[26] - $75
[24] - $200,000

[21] - $50

And the offer is...

BANKER'S OFFER

$62,000

Remaining cases: 2, 7, 8, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17 (your case), 18, 19, 20, 25

Est-ce que cette offre est acceptee ou refusee?

$10,000 worth, that's magnificent! Thank you :smt023

This is a good offer indeed, but I feel it's perhaps too early to go yet. I'll say REFUSEE for now, thanks. :D

Okay, then. The final say always rests with you, good sir.

Back to you again, with four cases to open :).

I love made-up words ;).

Also, David, as the top prize is six figures in this game, it is virtually impossible to win seven figures here.

On y va pour quatre valises maintenant.

[2] - $0.01 - This means you don't win a form of currency that's been retired in Canada since 2012 :D!
[7] - $25,000
[8] - $400
[10] - $300,000

A half-and-half round, but there's still lots of large amounts in play. Time to consider this offer...

BANKER'S OFFER

$79,000

Remaining cases: 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17 (your case), 18, 19, 20, 25

Three to open if you decline this. Acceptee ou refusee?

Thanks David, and Mark's wish is granted - we were sidling away from the good nature of this game, I feel. I know it's a tense and suspenseful business (how d'you think I feel in this chair?! ;) ), and energies sometimes flow over a little, but do remember, gents - we're here to have fun, to enjoy the game, and a key aspect of sportsmanship is good grace. :smt023

Housekeeping over, I'm ready to continue. If it's not too inconvenient, though - before I make my decision, can I have a look at the board? :)

Soitenly, my good man. Here's how the board looks presently.

$1
$5
$20
$100
$750

---------
$1,000
$50,000
$100,000
$175,000
$400,000
$500,000

Bonuses still in play: Maxi Case

As they used to say on the ill-fated U.S. version, you've got a nice safety net there.

Daniel nous donnera sa reponse... apres la pause ;)!
