I'm watching the Croatia V Australia match.

Australia are through after a 2-2 draw in one of the best matches of the tournament but Graham Poll has sent off 3 players and booked the same player, Simunic, 3 TIMES!

3 TIMES HE BOOKED HIM!

He forget he booked him the first time!

Graham Poll you plonker!!!

HAHA...I have no idea who that guy is, so saw the thread title and thought it was going to be a poll about someone called Graham... I was so intrigued! I'm rather disappointed.

He wouldn't have got the final anyway as one of his assistants has already had the final, but that's the end of his world cup.

The Thing from Tring won't be getting another match then. He's looked nervous throughout the tournament (getting his yellow and red cards in a muddle in the Togo vs Korea game, to name just one instance) and will likely be joining Rodriguez and hopefully Merk on the plane home.

Merk has no plane to get on! He's from Germany!

I think Merk would need a plane to avoid all the angry American/Australian fans he's pissed off the last few days. The best refs I've seen have been the less well-known ones - Kamikawa, Cantalejo and Maidin, to name three.

Cantalejo is a rubbish ref (England v Austria is an example of his badness), but he's been good so far.

Yep, he's usually poor - very Spanish in the way he dishes out cards and the fact he only got into the World Cup after Mejuto Gonzalez' linesman got injured (!) probably indicates that he isn't held in that high esteem within UEFA but his displays so far have been very very good. His performance in Germany vs Poland was as good a display I've seen from a ref, like ever.

I wish Cantalejo and Poll had swapped round and Poll was good and Cantalejo was rubbish.

Poll is one of the most over-rated refs in Europe. He's not even England's best but is somehow still given all the big appointments and made out to be some kind of refereeing messiah.

After that refereeing display from Poll, all I can think is how bad the other referees in England are!

Glenn Turner and Phil Sharp (rated best assistant ref in world) are the ones I feel sorry for.

A ref was sacked by the FA for accidently showing a 2nd yellow card to a player. I hope Poll goes the same way.

Well, it was both D'Urso and Messias which were "punished" by the FA - they were suspended and then brought back and only allowed to do League matches rather than Premiership. Messias has since quit refereeing altogether, while D'Urso continually gets shat on by the powers that be. I very much doubt that anything will happen to Poll, even though there are half a dozen refs within the refereeing spectrum in England much better than him.

I was thinking about that one at the time!

I liked Messias (we never lost with him in charge) but he showed Yakubu the card again as he the player didn't see it and Messias has ended up as a PE teacher.

Yeah, I remember us playing Norwich in the FA Cup a few seasons back and Messias giving us two penalties en route to our 3-1 win. For that, he was always one of my favourite refs......doubt Norwich fans cared for him too much though 8)

He reffed their 4-4 draw 2 seasons ago so he can't be too bad for us. We never lost with him at all, and he did a good number of our games.

The linesman are just as bad as the refs half the time. I've very rarely seen a linesman over-rule a ref's decision.
