The Christmas Stars week has come to an end, but should it be repeated next Christmas or would it be better to revert back to the format of Christmas 2006?

I voted yes because forget the sob stories we did see, we ended up warming to a couple of them and wishing they had spent longer on the show!

It's like Deal or No Deal meets Noel's Christmas Presents - it's a very good combination. We are all very used to seeing people come out of their shells during weeks on the show, and so might not have warmed to these shows as much as they probably would have done if the basis of the wing line-ups was more sparing.

You can also tell it will probably happen because it said they were Christmas Stars 2007, suggesting that there will be more to come in the coming years.

Definitely not. I don't like programmes like Noel's Christmas Presents or Pride of Britain Awards, so I'm not keen on these "Christmas Presents meets DOND" shows. I think the 2006 format worked MUCH better. Or just have the Santa vs Scrooge week... during the actual Christmas week!

I voted yes too Davey for a couple of reasons, a lot of my friends who are big DOND fans have been too busy over the past week to be able to sit down and watch the shows, and so could dip in and out of these specials and not feel they had missed too much.

Also I think a change of format is good for a short run, as with the Halloween and Scrooge and Santa weeks, they inject a bit of spice into what can sometimes be run of the mill weeks.

The show will have been seen by people who have not seen it before, and as more and more people are getting extra channels on which to watch it the show's popularity will grow.

The shows need to be longer, we lost far too much of the fun out of John and Alan's shows.

They will be getting feedback from me next month

God no, as good as they were they weren't anywhere near as good as a normal week of DOND and if we had a few £500k games thrown in and some good characters no one would remember this week at all...

But sadly the language they used on the adverts suggests that they will come back next year...

I thought that these christmas star shows were a nice break from the normal shows. If you dont like them then you can just not watch them and then have a little break from the show and then return to watch them when the normal shows are back.

I hope they do it next year. But see these special weeks they have like halloween and christmas week, on the first 2 or 3 shows its like, great i love these shows but when the week goes on its like, i want the normal ones back! I dont know why though! So i would like it if they just did it once a week. for 6 weeks. Like have the christmas stars on every saturday night for 6 weeks! It will never happen like!

Probably because they lose the shock/horror factor after a couple of times seeing it.

Like it didn't seem like very spooky for Little Rich's and Maria's games because it was after Hallowe'en.

I was absolutely dreading the Christmas Star shows. I was sure the whole game would consist of everyone crying over whatever bad things had happened to them, and them dealing early at the third offer or something - or even worse winning a blue. The trailer that just seemed to consist of lots of shots of people crying didn't help either.

I was very very pleasantly surprised! Six games, all completely different, with genuine, happy positive people all playing and all clearly enjoying themselves. Even though they and all the box openers would only be there for one show, they were all really fun to watch and a refreshing break from the norm.

I think next year, to keep everyone happy, maybe a normal episode in the afternoon and a Christmas Star in the evening. Would be a bit overkill having two episodes a day, but they're both there as a compromise!

I don't think there should be, but there will be.

Definitely not!

The sob stories and the associated nauseating over-sentimentality just do not suit DoND. As h2005 has said, it's as though Noel decided to have a DoND/Noel's Christmas Presents hybrid.

Maybe 2008 will see the end of DoND for good. If not, then the Christmas shows should be more like those of 2006, perhaps with a £1 Million jackpot.

The shows were better than I expected and was an interesting change, but I would of prefered Christmas style shows through-out Christmas week. I know the studio had it's decorations up and they talked about Christmas but it didn't feel it.

I would prefer it next year if they done the shows sometime in the summer, like the final week before they have a break. Obviously they wouldn't be able to call them them Christmas Stars then but i'm sure they could call it Summer Stars or something.

Obvivously I voted yes since I've seen how the setup was being recorded in late November and commentated how it was very different and gave the regular players some respite.

I would like to see them take the show away from the studio for next year and film it inside Bristol's Old Vic Theatre. Since Noel's Christmas Presents showed it can be done for DoND. They can record two weeks again and have the second week a Panto Week for the regular players.

It was *beep* *beep*. Well, it was alright but really was just like DOND but with some of the best bits missing, so therefore nowhere near as good...like if a sitcom did a Christmas special with half the characters missing. The basic game of DOND is still there, but I can't possibly see why anything else that was different makes it at all better and not worse. Last year's shows were infinitely better.

I see no reason why it shouldn't be repeated. I'd happily sacrifice the lack of continuity of the wings for contestants who don't go to pieces when the game doesn't go there way.

They really should give a tape of a couple of this weeks games to contestants before they go on and we may get a few less crying at the end.

I don't personally have too much of a problem with people crying at the end of their game if they've had a trainwreck and couldn't do much about it. What I don't like is when they start blubbing before the game's even started, or when they cry at the end due to gambling not paying off or a deal going wrong.

That's what I meant. Compare this week's reaction to the dream finish to Donna's and I know which one I'd rather see.

I don't think it was that bad really, I had bad preconceptions about it but there was only a bit of sobbing in the intro and the games were handled tastefully, they didn't muck with the gameplay and it was only there for 6 shows.

Am I the only person who isn't bothered at all if contestants cry when the game doesn't go their way? The appeal of the show for me is getting to know the different players' personalities and seeing how they react to certain situations is all part of that...it would be a lot less moving and engaging if everyone just put a brave face on it and said "Never mind!" (although it is always impressive when people can cope so well with bad results). The Christmas Star contestants seemed almost emotionless and didn't seem at all bothered about what was going on...even Bridget looked far more happy at her trip to Crufts (or whatever it was) than the fact that she'd won £50k...

I don't want people to have a souless macho basicasic attitude but it's possible to not get too upset though. I mean they can look disappointed if a gamble has gone wrong but not blub hysterically as it's only a game show if you see what I mean.

You're not the only person. I'm not bothered if they cry/whinge or not. It's their game, they can do what they like. It's not like having Noel pointing a gun to their head and making threats to cheer up and say "never mind". Anyway, from the episodes I've seen across the channel some time ago, the contestants are 100 times more emotional. It's more like a waterworks over there.
