In the first two seasons, it was: "A quarter of a million pounds; 22 identical sealed boxes; and no questions...except one: Deal or No Deal?"

But there is a tiny part of the opening line now in season three, that always gets edited out.

The full version is:

"22 identical sealed boxes, in one of which there is a quarter of a million pounds. And of course, just one question: Welcome to Deal or No Deal!"

It doesn't even make grammatic sense!

The opening line gets worse with every revision...

The edited out bit is where Noel confirms the date. The original season 3 opening is thus.

"22 identical sealed boxes, in one of which there is a quarter of a million pounds. It's Sunday 9th December. Welcome to Deal or No Deal!"

I went to a show last week.

The bit edited out is now as I quoted earlier. Instead, during the warm-up, Noel asked us if we had a rough idea what month we were in, and we correctly guessed February, and then he asked us the same for the day, and we also guessed right (some of the contestants whispered it to us!!! :-D ) and then he said "Just so you all know that Christmas has come on gone in here...but it'll still be a few weeks away once you're outside again!!!" :-D

Don't know why but I liked when Noel mentioned the date at the start for some reason and it seems weird they only did it for a few shows.

I wonder if they'll ever scrap the opening with Noel and just start the show with the title sequence?

I think Noels done well to keep on saying the same thing every day, still trying to make it sound fresh. Must be difficult.

When I went to a show taping Noel said something along the lines of "it's not easy saying the same thing everyday and keeping it interesting!" :D

Well, it does make grammatical sense if you substitute your colon after "question" with a full stop. And since everybody knows what the question is-after all, the clue is in the title- I think it does perfectly well as an introduction.

At the beginning of one of the recordings I have been to, Noel said that if anyone could think of a new way to do the introduction, he would pay good money

I think Noel does really well, considering nothing on idiot boards or anything, if there is a hiccup, technical or otherwise he repeats the same story (maybe about the previous player) but in an entirely different way. Everything is adlib! and I for one admire him for that. Yes, he does keep each show (remember he does 3 a day) alive and fresh, even if he has a bad day (and lets be honest, we all have them) having been there for 19 shows, I can say, he never shows it. WELL DONE NOEL!

The best bit is that he had to re-shoot the intro for the game I went to see due to be aired on February 21st - and did two completely different versions of the intro lol! Two very different tones of voices!
