For everyone who keeps insisting that Matty's charity aims were "hearsay," merely mentioned on the messageboard by Nicola:

NOEL HIMSELF MENTIONED AT THE START OF SOMEONE ELSE'S EARLIER GAME (END OF FEB?), THAT MATTY WAS PLANNING TO GIVE HIS WINNINGS TO THE TSUNAMI VICTIMS.

Arrrrgh!

I keep telling people this on the Today's Game thread, and they keep ignoring it!

Was she there? NO.

Besides, he was too involved with the game to even think about them.

If you read my posts over the last few days on the matter, you'll see I've kept an "open mind" but have on the whole assumed that Matty was playing for charity. Hence why I included him in my summary of "3 players playing for charity" this week...

Look at the More4 repeats over the next few weeks and you will see a game, first broadcast in late February, in which Nicola & Matty both appear on the wings, and Noel mentions at the start that Matty wishes to give his money to the Tsunami victims when he eventually plays.

Why is that fact so ****ing hard for people to get into their heads????

Not you, H, I mean the other people...

These people are myopic.

Except when it comes to remembering the last time someone would have won more by No Dealing to the end.

This quote's telling though:

Which might explain why he squandered £19,999.99. He was too busy thinking about 'the game' and the assumption that it begins at eight-box. Had he not, I would hope - if not expect - he'd have gone at eleven-box or even fourteen-box. I think he even recognised the generosity of the fourteen-box offer!

Of course, if the game does begin at eight-box he had a nightmare. But with offers like his, it doesn't.

Of course, there's no reason why the Tsunami stuff wasn't mentioned at the start of Matty's game...

...then the game fell apart...

...and the Banker fell about laughing...

...on Easter Monday...

...in front of mebbe thousands more (new?) TV viewers than a regular game...

...which would have given the impression that the Banker...

...and hence DOND itself...

...was MOCKING the plight of the Tsunami victims.

Therefore (?) the Tsunami mentions were edited out of Matty's game, and it's only OCD types like me who remember anything about Matty's charity wishes.

Mebbe it's better to mention your charitable aims once you've got some money under your belt, so it doesn't matter so much if it's edited out?

So what if it was mentioned in another show? That still doesn't make it true. And as for this-

Quote:
...was MOCKING the plight of the Tsunami victims.

In what way is the banker laughing at a PLAYER who for all we know had no intention of giving the money to charity mocking the Tsunami victims? At the end of the day it's a gameshow and he should act no differently with charity players than with normal players which is why- topped with the histrionics of his wife- I don't believe a word of it.

I don't know why you insist on perpetuating this myth as I couldn't care less if he gave it all away to charity or spent it on drugs and hookers. And I don't want to burst your bubble but what you claim Noel said about Matty is hearsay. Even if Noel actually did say it.

Noel claimed yesterday's board was the worst ever. But it wasn't. He gets muddled and makes mistakes so I wouldn't take anything he said as remotely accurate.

There was no mention of charity during his game. None. Not even the merest hint. Therefore there is no proof. None. Zilch. Zero.

And since when have Endemol ever spared anybody's feelings. A contestant playing for charity bombing out is just the sort of entertainment and drama they love to broadcast. Its inconceivable that they would miss an opportunity like this by editing out all mentions of his charitable intentions.

Its a feeble attempt to make him look less of a chump than he actually was and quite frankly if Matty himself came on here and claimed it now i wouldn't believe him as its easy to claim you would have given it all to charity when you haven't actually won anything.
