Do you think it's a good idea or not?

I think it could be a good idea, if used sparingly and on the right people. It was lost on Janie today, I felt. The fact she had to ask other contestants proved this, and the fact they seemed to give wildly different figures proved they were no help really.

I think it would work well with a statistician like Ned / Aaron / Ed or a supposed board reader like Harvey, but I don't see why it was done on Janie.

I'm not sure I actually like the idea, as it could just be used as a way to get the banker to force players on, because if the player makes a generous offer then the banker's likely to say "no deal" and not agree to the offer and give a swap. If the player makes it low to please the banker then they're more likely to no deal, which just seems like a way of getting the player to play on to the end... seems rather pointless to me. It'd have been more interesting if Janie had ended up with a Richard style board today...

I think the Banker was testing her reading at the opening offer, then couldn't be assed.

I couldn't see the point today - the stakes weren't high anyway.

I'd say have one every 6 weeks, where you ave a set of new people. You can see how brainwashed they have been with previous deals and the like.

Maybe the producers realised that the run of games we've had recently have been rather dull and decided to try and spice things up a bit...

In fact I'd say things picked up a lot the week either side of Betty's game, but started to go downhill again soon after. :?

I enjoyed that week then it got bad again - I just wish this ugly cycle can get broken.
This is just bland, dull, no tension, no decisions whatsoever with the luck whether the player deals/no deals and a silly twist today.

Slightly off-topic but wasn't January when there was that long run of no Power 5 boxes on the table at all, for the first time ever? And then April where there were no Power 5 wins of any sort... also for the first time ever... :?

I think so for both of those - april was appalling from Eunice's game onwards but I just hope it can get better without twists.

It initially seemed like a good twist but soon became apparent it was completely and utterly pointless for the reasons I stated in Janie's game thread.

It would be a good idea if it was coupled with the right player - Janie wasn't it. :)

Someone like Ned or Ed or Aaron could have been really interesting!

I don't really like it. Perhaps on odd occasions and for the right player, but leave it to the Banker.

I think it's totally pointless. The point of the game is to pit youtr wits agaisnt the banker,no? In Janie's game I actually thought it happened spontaneously cos she suggested he up the opening offer after the minus 1001k, but as the game went on it appeared from Noel's talking at each offer that he was in on it already, unless something between him and the banker was edited out.

Maybe trying it with a player with half a brain might change my mind, but I wouldn't want to sit through that again.
