Slightly related news in terms of contestants trying to raise money, but Marianne Wong (from the Chirstmas Star shows) is also auctioning off various DOND memorabilia (not via ebay though). Including a couple of Noel's shirts, tea sets, her box, and more.
TWO of Noel Edmonds' shirts, plus an array of memorabilia from his hit TV show Deal Or No Deal, are to be auctioned off by Crossford woman Marianne Wong.
Millions of viewers saw charity worker Marianne endure the misfortune of landing the booby prize of only one penny on Deal Or No Deal's Christmas Special last month.
Now her infamous number eight box is one of many items being sold as part of one lot, with all money raised going to underprivileged people in Kenya.
The items will be on display at Lanark's Greyfriars Church on Sunday February 8, after Marianne has spoken (from 11am onwards) about her recent three-week charity mission in Malindi, Kenya, with partner Fraser Robertson.
Marianne said: "Everyone is welcome to come along.
"The event gives me a chance to say "thank you" to people who donated money towards my Kenya trip.
"I'm expecting to eventually receive at least a four figure sum for all the memorabilia, although five figures would be lovely.
"I'm really excited that Noel's floral shirt is one of the auction items, as he was wearing that the first time I ever saw Deal Or No Deal on the television.
"A lot of people watched me on the Christmas Day show. They said they were disappointed I only got a penny, but proud of me because I was dignified and came across well.
"I was disappointed at the time, but having this auction means the penny will be turned into thousands of pounds for good causes."
Also part of the auction are items including a Noel Edmonds tie, two official Deal Or No Deal crew tops, electronic board games, official tea set, exclusive mug, milk jug, sugar pot and keyrings.
No bids will be accepted on the day for Marianne's treasure chest, as her main focus is to outline the stunning success of last month's visit to Malindi.
However, anyone wishing to register an initial interest is welcome.
She said: "We went out there with £8350 that had been raised from local events. The money went a heck of a long way.
"It helped supply three truckloads of medical and food supplies, and discharge 32 patients from hospital.
"We donated £2000 which paid for a new babies wing at an orphanage, furnished it and covered the cost of cots and beds.
"Another £2000 fed a village of 2000 people for six weeks.
"We also donated a blackboard to Gede village and paid for a teacher to come in one day a week for three months to educate 22 kids.
"I take satisfaction from the fact that this money is making a difference."
Marianne hopes to return to Kenya on another aid trip either this year or in 2010.
She has dedicated an African Medical and Research Association award, recognising her extensive charity work, to everyone who has supported her fund-raising.
Marianne said: "On the Deal Or No Deal set I received a This Is Your Life book containing a lot of photos I took in Kenya.
"There's a message which says: 'Thanks to your efforts, more people are able to get life saving medication and lead healthy productive lives. The world needs more people like you'.
"I also got a certificate of appreciation from the Kenyan Ministry.
"These awards mean a lot to me, but I must stress that I would never have got this recognition without the support of everyone who has helped."
Marianne's February 8 event at Greyfriars Church will also include the sale of African artefacts, jewellery, bracelets, boxes, walking sticks, bowls, key rings and pictures. Tea and coffee will be available.
