It would be great to see a show with a popular contestant like Walter with lots of comedy
and a Power 5 win, but failing that, which of these options do you prefer?

EDITED 19/2/09 : Poll reopened as new people joined this thread after the initial poll closed 13/2/09

"A popular entertaining contestant, lots of comedy, but a blue win"

I'd much rather Walter won a large amount of course, but his show is much more memorable than a lot of shows which had large wins.

"A popular entertaining contestant, lots of comedy, but a blue win"

So sorry for choosing this....... but it is about tv enjoyment! So, if I watch a really entertaining game with a real charachter,, regardless of the outcome, and purely for the enjoyment, I would choose....

"A popular entertaining contestant, lots of comedy, but a blue win"

Definitely the last option. I'd rather be amused than bored, thank you. Besides, blue wins are funnier anyway.

Option 3 for me > A popular entertaining contestant, lots of comedy, but a blue win

I'd rather much see an entertaining game like Walter's even though it was a blue win (though I was rooting for Walter to win a decent amount).

Option 3, definately. Ideally, a game would have comedy and a big win, but if it was one or the other, I'd rather the game was funny like Walter's.

I've gone for funny contesatnt wins a blue too. While any power 5 win is fantastic (some more than others) - Walter's game had me in laughter all the way through, whereas, say 100k Maria's only got interesting really when she no-dealt at 5-box with the 100k still in play. Before that it was pretty standtra fayre. Same with Keran's game - if it hadn't have been for spoilers about her, I doubt I'd have even known who she was when her name got called!!!

Funny contestant wins a blue.

Simply because these games tend to be far more memorable. I don't remember laughing so much during an episode as I did yesterday.

But then when you get the funny contestant and the power 5 win (Mary), it's even better.

Boring contestant + Power 5 win. One, it's a Power 5 win, and two, they've just changed their life. At the end of the day, they're all people...

Agreed, I went for that one too mainly because I don't believe anyone is that boring, and also if they win a Power 5 amount it is likely that they've shown some level of courage to get there.

That said, I would prefer a popular entertaining contestant, lots of comedy, but a blue win over an average show with an early deal outright player win.

What's important is that DOND is about much more than just the money won and yesterday's show with Walter
clearly showed that.

Surely fans seek a game which does not conform. In life we constantly seek the unorthadox.
Deal or no Deal is all about the unexpected, that is why we all watch daily. if it were predictable it would be no more after series one.
Yes most games are predictable, but we all watch/play in the hope of the unpredictable.

I'm glad I only saw this after it closed as I'm unsure and I'd be happy with one of each of these in a week!

Was tempted to vote for 'average player gets a middling OPW'. That then provides an unambiguous Happy End untainted by the 'oh god, Noel's going to be unbearable for a week now' feeling that I usually get after Power 5 box wins! However, comedy trainwrecks like Walter's, and indeed Power 5 box wins from players you never noticed on the wings, are certainly more memorable.

Boring contestant + Power 5 win. Sorry, but I totally dislike blue wins. I don't care who's playing or how much of a character they are. Sorry, but that's my opinion on this subject.

You hate blue wins, but you always want to see people gamble on blue/red finishes, even if they a big red offer???? I just don't get it. it seems as though you would prefer the show if you removed all the people and after 45 minutes, a random box is generated that somebody wins whats in it.

Don't worry Daniel, Mad Mark fits his name perfectly, he's completely mad. He's from Canada so he doesn't see the show, and wants to make the lowest amount available £1,000 as he believes no one should go away with a small amount (but most of us argue that we need this to have some variety). He cares far more about the money won than the characters (which is the main draw of the show for me).

It's because in the Canadian/USAian DOND, the contestant is just a random person that walks out of a metallic sliding door that we've never seen before.

Yeah, you take my opinions like they're a bad thing. Face it, greeny; this is an open forum, and I have the right to freedom of expression. If you don't like what I say, that's fine, but I don't want to be depicted as the "bad guy" just because I perceive the show differently. I just have different views of the show than most of you do. I live by the mantra "Dare to be different", and with my opinions, I tend to go against whatever is the norm around here. Face it; I don't like blue wins. Why? Becuase I want everyone to do well and win as much as they can. That's why. I strongly reccommend you take a good look at the quote in my signature the next time you feel it necessary to attack me.

And for the record, I am not "completely mad". I am a very sane person, thank you very much. It is not wise to make assumptions such as this, so I highly reccommend you stop it at once. Thank you.

And that would have to be a random box containing at least £35,000... I think his view of the game is like supporting a football team but demanding every match is a thriller AND his team wins, and anything else should be scrubbed from the records and not shown on TV!

In terms of my answer to the above question, I'd say "whatever we haven't had for a while". Which if you pick a random moment in DOND history will probably be the big-winning Wakey game more often than the rest, simply as it's less common!
