I found this article quite interesting; I had missed the irony of the 1000th show being aired on April Fools Day!

I have recently given my English GCSE students a review on The Colour of Money v DOND to analyse for their coursework, so seeing this has got my interest. I especially liked the bit when he said the Colour of Money contestants were more downmarket than DOND's! :-D

It is interesting to see how people feel about Deal now though isnt it? I wonder if DOND will still be around come Christmas...?

The show is the most watched programme on some days for Channel 4 so I don't see it being dropped any time soon (well, I hope not..).

I saw this article and was actually going to post it, but flamed beat me to it..

It will be interesting to see what the figures are for the 1000th show today with the extra publicity it has received :D

Channel 4 are not going to pull the plug on DoND, roll on the next 1000 :D

The ratings for DOND are very respectable for a daytime show, and gets among the best ratings for Channel 4 when Big Brother is not on, so I can't see it going anytime soon.

Another small Deal or No Deal article from the Guardian today regarding the 1000th show and it's popularity...

There are some quite amusing sentences in that article, the one that made me laugh most was...

"There's always a stat man too; some deluded chap who'll coach the others into believing that the odds are gradually stacking up in their favour before, in a moment of irony, revealing that his box contained the £250,000 all along."

I guess DOND will always have the 'Marmite' effect to some extent but, even so, I think the chap who wrote that article definitely needs a saucer of milk...

Of course!!! Aren't I a cool teacher?!!! The reveiw was by Ian Hyland for The News of the World online, and it had a pro-DOND stance! I also got my students to write a sensationalist article about their teacher being a DOND contestant!!! :-D

I hope you awarded lots of gold stars then! I seem to remember that forum member Will (who's a Maths teacher) has actually played a game of DOND in one of his lessons before for educational purposes! Certainly beats quadratic equations...

There seem to be several forum members on here who are teachers, and as far as I know, all of them have played a DOND game with their students at some point. :laughing

That's at least 3 teachers from this forum who have definitely used DOND in their classes then! Surely it'll be in the National Curriculum soon?
