I might be speaking out of turn but I wish that contestants would keep their sad stories to themselves. Just recently it seems that every contestant seems to be trying to beat the previous contestant with an "I've got the saddest story to tell". In fact, its becoming fairly predictable what is coming next. Its a game show for goodness sake. Whatever your motive is for winning money can't it be kept private and dignified. I am going to have to stop watching as it is becoming far too depressing and maudling.

I agree, but then again, they are human. Everyone has a sad story to tell, but why on a gameshow?

I don't mind so much on Deal or No Deal. I like the fact that you get to know the player, and if they have a sad story to tell, so be it. I hate it when it's used on the likes of X Factor and Britain's Got Talent, because they try to use it to gain sympathy from the judges, and try and use it to progress to the next round. Telling a sad story isn't going to help your chances on Deal or No Deal (unless the Banker feels particularly touched) so I don't mind as much.

I can see where people are coming from on the sad stories but at the audition I mentioned my Leukemenia not out of wanting sympathy or to get on the show but because it's a huge part of my life. I do so much work with youngsters affected with the disease. Since I had a failed audition I have decided to give up all my free money and time into training to be a counsellor which I enrolled on after not getting on the show. I have massive ambitions all which require money but they are on hold now because of not getting that gold ticket. But I got my health and family and that's the most important thing to me.
