Is it just me or has anyone else noticed how the £1 box has been looking a little strange lately?

The white "£1" text on its blue piece of card appears to be thinner than the text used for any other amount. Even stranger, some days it looks normal (they must use two sets of boxes or something).

Keep a look out... :suspect:

(Of course, it could just be my glasses.)

It's been like that for a while now.

I have to say I think this is one of the most bizarre observations I've ever seen on this forum! I believe it was mentioned a few weeks ago but the posts about it got wiped due to a forum error.

I didn't notice the "thin £1" myself at first, but did spot it when others mentioned it. Apparently it was used in a special show a while back where the values were doubled and all the values had a thinner font - hope that helps answer your question.

Actually the different £1 text looks wider, bigger and thicker to me although it does look a bit strange but different.

I bet Endemol didn't expect anyone to notice :P

Though quite why they've suddenly started using the "different" £1 card that was last seen back at the end 2007 is odd. Where's it been all these years? :ponder:

Here's a pic of the "different" £1 box from a recent game (I can't remember which now).

It seems to alternate day by day, with it being the normal label one day, then the one used in Helen's game the next day (it generally seems to be Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday shows which have the unusual £1 label).

That one was used on the 2nd Anniversary which people correctly stated that everything doubled. My question why use the thin one one day then the one that is fatter on another (or is the £1 on a yo-yo diet?)

Let's bring ourselves down to earth a bit here. First and foremost, this is a production team making a "big" TV gameshow and thus earning themselves a heck of a lot more than they should. They're not going to be as sad, and neither am I, as to give a damn to what £1 card they're using in what box on what days. If they are that particular, they're stupid.

A few of us who were once part of the furniture, once stalwarts of the grand and extravagant, exuberant and thriving forum, have receded back into the walls, still faintly visible, still here as poignant, reminding relics of an era gone by; but most of us have vanished, forever immersed in the mists of time.

We weren't saying anything like that, what we are saying here is that how come since 2nd Nov 2007 this '£1' was used and never to be seen again? We were saying that they are going to care, just why??

I think they use 2 sets of boxes and 2 sets of cards, hence why the £1 card alternates.

Why don't the other numbers get alternated?

It's funny, I had got used to seeing the "thin" £1 on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays, I must have missed it in Gail's game, but thought it had gone when the normal £1 was there in Des's game, then when the thin one was revealed in Jazmin's game, it suddenly dawned on me that it was out of sequence due to there not being a Sunday game the last week before the break! :)

Yep, it now appears on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays due to there being no Sunday game before the break.

So stating the obvious here...we've finally sussed one of the show's hidden facts after almost four years...they have more than one set of red boxes used! Gives the producers, and more importantly the IA, better time to prepare the "props" as it were :)
