Well, I've now abandoned "Deal Or No Deal" for "The Chaser", which is much more fun and you do need a brain for it unlike "Deal". Reason being? "Deal" has been padded out to an hour to include all the boring long drawn out stuff, just to bring in more advertising revenue. I am not going to waste any more time on this just to keep Endemol richer!

I am surprised that since Thursday this Post has had 60 Views but no one has felt strong enough to disagree or agree with my feelings. Does anyone feel the same as I do? Or are you all quite happy to endure this extension?

I agree, I tend to only be able to watch Sunday shows, and due to it being a slow-motion trainwreck I found it very long and drawn-out, and I'd switched off when the £20k went! I watched Scott's game on 4OD too and fast-forwarded several bits of it as well.

I'm not too enthusiastic about this extension either TBH.

If Mia's game had been 45 minutes, I wonder if we would have seen all those tired fish and duck jokes? :?

probably not, but many of the ex-players on here said the 45 minute shows missed out many good moments(would you class the fish/duck theme as must watch?). As has been said before if they did a quickie show with Noel keeping his mouth shut, the whole thing, bar the deliberation for the offers could be over in about 10 mins :laughing

Whereas with the old format you could roughly tell when they were going to deal by the number of minutes left before the credits rolled. Now we are left in the dark as there is so much extra fat in the middle and end of the show.

I think once we've seen a few weeks of extended shows, it will be easier to judge the pacing. I had the feeling today with Dave's game that it was either going to be an early deal or a bad-luck game.

I agree with the Fish/Duck weirdness, but I think it adds more flavour to the show, the 45 minute ones were just opening and dealing while this padded out version has more fun.

Good to read your views on it guys. As you say, time will tell how it pans out.

..Only problem there is with the ammount of people that are switching off, in time the producers will realise this due to audience figures ,but by then it will be too late

The ratings will be interesting, yes. And because they are filming SO far in advance they have less room to respond to falling ratings, or fan critique, because all the 2011 episodes will be in the can by Easter!

Spotted this on DigitalSpy - http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/forums/show ... ?t=1420774

Looking at the poll results, 72% of people have switched off due to the longer format. Of course that's only based on the opinions of about 90 people on the DS forum, but it's bad news for C4/Endemol if it reflects a wider opinion.

Ouch!!!

And the fact that we haven't seen big wins as of late isn't helping either

If they had to react quickly to this news then surely it wouldn't matter that they are all in the can recorded to Easter. Surely the editors could just go through each prograame and edit them down back to 45-minutes?

But they will have planned twists to drag the games out, like this...

True enough, but even with the "twists" there is still a lot of waffle which could be taken out without losing the continuity.
