Just read this on the DonD Facebook page:

Quote:
Due to popular demand Deal or No Deal's new season is back early from it's summer break starting Monday15th August

Thought I'd make a topic about it so people know. I guess it's no longer the 29th.

Shame from my point of view, I wanted to see more HoF games.

But surely all the shows will be 2 weeks early as they're pre-recorded? We'll be having the Halloween specials in early October and Christmas in early December

I'm sure they originally said there'd be 20 HoF shows, over 4 weeks. :?

"due to popular demand" I doubt that somehow as they wouldn't bring it back 2 weeks early, I suspect the HoF shows were getting such poor ratings that they had to do something

Hang on, if they're going to five shows a week instead of six, this might actually be OK...

Six shows a week from the 29th = 30 shows by October 2
Five shows a week from the 15th = 30 shows by September 23...

...maybe not.

Anyone else dare to predict DoND is going to be cancelled at the end of next month? I will...

Well looking at the Radio Times for Sunday 21st August it has DoND listed for 3:05pm, which is rather early - http://www.radiotimes.com/ListingsServl ... llpage.jsp -

Well, this is interesting. Maybe it was always going to be just two weeks, and the four weeks prospect was a hoax!

The Summer Break came a week later than usual too.

I'm sure Noel himself said it would return on 29th Aug...

I can't think of a way this sensibly resolves itself without the show being cancelled very soon indeed.

Oh, hang on, two weeks of one-off episodes. As the whole point of this is to remove the repeats, are we going to get two weeks of hastily-taped "Christmas Star" type episodes? They can't cast those quickly enough, for a start...

...no, I can't think of anything. We're going to get Hallowe'en in mid-October. Or the show to be cancelled by then. I'm going to make the prediction that will make the entire forum laugh at me if it's wrong, and state that I expect DoND to be gone before the year is out.

What would be the reason behind that? All that hoax would do would lose viewers. :ponder:

Digiguide says the same, it's believable.

Apparently it's coming back early due to popular demand. Someone just told me that.

That's what was posted on the official Facebook page too. I suspect there are other reasons though...

You're right; that was a silly idea, sorry.

Everywhere I've read previously said the show wouldn't return to the 29th August, and that there was 20 HoF games. The official site says it both here http://blog.dealornodeal.co.uk/dond-onl ... l-of-fame/ & here http://blog.dealornodeal.co.uk/dond-onl ... d-of-term/

Plus on Facebook apparently it's been confirmed the show is back early due to popular demand. So judging from that comment it has only been a recent decision.

The Summer Break came a week later than usual too.

From my visit to the studios in January this year (where I saw Glenda, Jacky and Vinny's games), I can tell you that the summer break was always planned to be beginning at the start of August. But later visits to the studios recorded games that are definitely consistent with the break being planned to be four weeks long. I don't see how things like the Hallowe'en and Christmas games will be happening at the appropriate times, unless we'll actually see a mixture of new and Hall of Fame games over the next few weeks.

I'm confused.

Does this mean that all episodes are two weeks early then now? or Maybe they'll have a two week break sometime to get it back to normal dates etc

This is a possibility. That there'll be two weeks over the autumn where Channel 4 will be showing something else.

Well, this definitely comes as a huge surprise...  :?

I myself doubt that it's due to popular demand - given what's already been said on this thread, I can only assume that C4 are dissatisfied with how the HoF shows are doing ratings-wise, and thus have made a decision that, IMHO, is rather hasty. :?

Wouldn't be the first time they've done that, though. ;)

And KP, I can tell that you're not impressed with this turn of events... ;)
