What is it with you guys and hypo-swaps? I fail to see the problem with them. :ponder:

I think people dislike them because it muddies the water with regards to the outcome of the game, due to the fact that when you deal, you're selling the box you currently own, so swapping it away is effectively changing what you've sold.

But it's very difficult to avoid it when a player is so adamant (such as Zoleika yesterday) that they would've swapped had they played on.

I'm less hateful of them in games like yesterday because we know what the player would have done at 2-box. It's games where the player deals before 2-box and Noel asks about the hypo-swap but doesn't bother to ask whether they would have taken the 2-box deal that rile me.

Just remove swapping at the end of the game. No-one ever takes the first offer so just make it so the first offer is always the swap. Simple.

Obv if banker looks in box as part of a twist you can swap at the end.

If you are going to do that then you might as well just let the player chose their box at the beginning (but then that would need the ball-selecting process changing).

I'm not bothered really.

I don't mind. I like to see the proveout come to an honest conclusion (something I'm not convinced we see from the Bankers perspective) but if the players wants to swap, then we should let them do it after they've dealt.

Of course, the player could lie too, but some geniunely and adamantly really want to swap, and I want to see an honest finish. I wouldn't want that priviledge taken away from the geniune contestants.

True. But having them pick in the first place removes the element of the player wondering if they did the right thing about swapping. If they choose to swap for example and first box of round 2 they choose their first box. That there is interesting :)

I'm not too gone on hypo-swaps - and I particularly hate those with the £250k.

With some of these, I can't help but wonder if the player really would have swapped had they been in live play - or if they "know" that they have the biggie in front of them, but don't want to be beaten heavily by the Banker, so they actually lie to Noel.

In the case of Martyne from 23 September 2008, I'm tempted to believe it was the latter...

Going a bit off-topic here, but I didn't like her anyway as she was awfully mouthy. I'll never forget when she called the second break with the words "Come back because I'm going to win the £250k" - and when we came back she promptly dealt...

I have less issue with a swap at the start than at the end. Also, if I had the 250k and hypothetically gave it away at the end, even if I thought I would always have swapped the box, the regret would still be there that it was on the table all along.
