A twist idea for next year, which changes the structure of boards from within.

The game is the same as pre-2014. Every day, two random amounts have their colours changed, one to silver, one to gold. The Independent Adjudicator is the only person who knows which amounts have changed their colours.

The silver amount, in addition to its face value, is worth an extra £10,000. The gold amount is worth an extra £50,000.

The advantage of the twist is that it is incorporated into the game, which allows the Banker to adjust his offers accordingly. The twist has a similar effect in average payouts and board stability, while being simpler to understand, and can increase the tension of .

I still like the overall idea of Box 23, but think it should be phased out, as I have concerns that it won't work as a permanent feature, and its more straightforward to replace it than to address its flaws. Removing 23 with nothing to replace it would make things worse, as it would negatively affect players. As an evolutionary change, I believe this new twist would at least help the show in the short term.

It could be argued that Deal needs full-scale reform, and when it comes to twists in game shows, I lean more on the conservative side, as they can be disruptive to overall gameplay. This one is based on where we are today, and (I hope at least) would be a fair and reasonable change to the show.

Crikey, that's an intriguing one. I wonder if the £50k is overpowered - maybe have two silvers and a £20k (or even £26k?) gold? - but it would change the course of the whole game. Amusingly, it'd mean th

Like Tom Hanks and his football on that island in 'Cast Away', it looks like it's just me and the bots here now. But that's alright, we're having a grand old time. Aren't we, Wilson? WILSOOOON?!

A few of us who were once part of the furniture, once stalwarts of the grand and extravagant, exuberant and thriving forum, have receded back into the walls, still faintly visible, still here as poignant, reminding relics of an era gone by; but most of us have vanished, forever immersed in the mists of time.

A third option would be interesting, as I considered adding a bronze amount, though felt it would start to become confusing. £50k is to round amounts up, so that £250k would become £300k, though two £26k amounts would also work.

I like this idea.

I think Bronze/Silver/Gold would work as the concept of Bronze/Silver/Gold is well known.

Graphically it could maybe be shown as 3 medals that are removed once they are discovered.

That's a good idea cfd. Having 3 medals would allow players to distinguish them from the amounts on the board, and could work as an indicator inside the boxes too, instead of just changing the background colour of the amounts.

You're right on adding bronze, too. It would be worth adding to keep consistency with the theme. Perhaps the 3 values of the medals could be bronze as £5,000, silver £10,000, and gold £20,000, mirroring KP's suggestion above.

The 3 would have a significant effect on gameplay without overpowering it, encouraging viewers to watch for longer when players are otherwise having a bad game, while payouts would be similar to box 23. Could work well both in theory, and practice.

Edit: Changed £25,000 to £20,000, to make the 3 amounts equivalent to those on the board, and to emphasise the power 5 amounts.
