Hi everyone, I used to watch Deal or No Deal obsessively for a good few years but stopped watching when I did my A Levels and went to Uni, so I've missed quite a lot only catching the odd game here and there! Anyway I've started watching it again properly and it's changed quite a bit so I was just wondering if people who have watched it continuously could answer some questions for me that I've been wondering about please!

1) When was Box 23 first introduced and what happened on the first game it was included in? Have the five possible outcomes always been the same?

2) When and why did the player of the day start being revealed by Noel and not by the name generator on the main board? I personally really dislike this change as it takes away the excitement of seeing who the player will be as all of the names flash up on the screen! It makes the start seem rather flat.

3) When and why has the famous '1p kiss' been forgotten about and instead the players do a swishing motion?

4) Did the idea of 'Pilgrim of the Day' get introduced along with Box 23 or was it a separate thing? Also how is that specific pilgrim chosen?

5) There doesn't seem to have been a summer break this year, am I wrong? If not, why is this?

6) Finally... which especially memorable games should I check out from the past 3 or so years that you would recommend?

1. New Years Day this year. Joey dealt it with a five figure sum of £10,900 (which is extremely very rare for a player to deal with a five figure sum) and it contained +£10,000.
During the summer specials the amounts were different.
QUARTER instead of HALF, (which came to the table twice), +£20,000 instead of +£10,000 (which also came to the table twice) MONEY BACK was gone.

2. Also start of this year.

3. No idea. Can't remember. Started to happen sometime this year.

4. Pilgrim of the day was there before box 23 was introduced. Their names go into a hat or something...

5. Summer breaks are a thing of the past. Have been for 3/4 years now. Though recording wise they have a long hiatus in filming. Last recording date was May the 9th. (The day the Christmas shows were recorded!) Filming resumes sometime next month, day currently unknown.

6. The big winners... (i.e. Paddy and Roops £250,000 win)...

Just to elaborate on a few points...

2. The scrolling names were shortened in late 2012 and dropped at the end of last year. It's probably because since 2012, the players are told whose game it is before the start of the show (this player is then the first to choose a box).

3. The swirling motion is known as 'the penny drop'. It first happened during a game in April and was then adopted by the other players.

4. Pilgrim of the day may have existed before box 23's invention but it's only been referred to on-screen since the start of the year (their primary purpose is to bring box 23 to the table). As Mark said, the POTD is drawn from names in a hat.

5. The summer break was dropped in 2012 but the show has had a couple of weeks off air during the year due to sporting events (mainly horse racing).

6. Too many to mention really (the big wins are obviously good to watch but there's plenty of good character games that were just as good), have a look online and see what you find!
