Would it be good for the format of Deal Or No Deal to change to inject fresh energy and interest into the show? What changes would work best if any?

I would like there to be bigger money so poss 26 boxes (although I conceed it would not be fair to those who have already played) the banker shown talking behind a screen so we could see him but not see him, And Noel not to leave next year.

Totally agree having seen the US DOND, I like the American format very much. If they did something like that they could have three shows a week, say Friday-Sunday and put them all on at peak time in the evening with the highest prize available a minimum of £1,000,000. If they stick to the same format, as much as I enjoy it personally, I can still see DOND burning out within a year or at the most two which would be a great shame.

I don't think bigger prizes would really work in our version, as contestants are generally too cautious - with £1m in play we would be likely to see £50k offers at the second or third round and most people would be out of that door in seconds (if it wasn't for the fact they have to play out the rest of the game to see what would have happened, that is!)

The only way to make it work and have some decent games would be either to select a load of crazy gamblers, or for the Banker to make joke offers to force people on.

I don't want any changes at all...if I wanted the American format I'd download the American version. The only thing they need to do to keep me watching is pick decent contestants!

American format would also turn cowards into more of a gambler if it only takes 1 box till the next offer, because people will be confident that 1 box will not result in a 100% board collapse.

The continuous 3 box thing is very much risky at the later stages as you have a much higher chance of hitting the higher numbers, or all of them for that matter. With 1 box to go, that is impossible.

Then again, 6 boxes to start would mean you cant get the 1 in 57 chance of an all blue opening round. It would be something in the region of 1 in 124, ask AI or KP, im not really sure. You could have an all blue second round, however and the chances wont be as great as 1 in 57 as you have already removed 6 amounts.

If they could keep the format fresh but without ruining it. Then the best way would be to extend to the use of the swap and perhaps using it for the second offer. Or perhaps, go all-evil like the French and use it for a manditory final offer, instead of offering any cash.

There was a rumour last year where for the Christmas shows they were going to replace one of the low blue amounts with a mince pie.

That would be a good idea to have some of the lower boxes with stupid things in them like a penny chew instead of a 1p etc up to the 500 mark.

The 1p surely has to stay, but I suppose a couple of joke prizes in place of other crap amounts might be an idea. Or perhaps have a car on the red side of the board like they do in some other versions!

I was thinking about a CAR instead of the rock, depending on how great it was. They would have to retrieve a car with a tag of around £20,000 to make it the same. Changing the prizes without affecting the format is a good refresher tactic. I dont like the rock, too many people have won it, although only 4 or so have had it in their box. Then again, if someone like June wins the car, they would have to sell it!

By "the rock", do you mean £20,000? 16 people have had that in their box - it's the joint most common amount! (Along with £1.)

Yep! The rock, the safety net, whatever.

Funny how Ron was the giver of the little rocks, and got one for himself!

I meant out of those who've won it, 4 have won it by going to the end and opening their box.

Vanessa
Morris
Ron
Erm help me...
