The noise just grew even bigger. Jacqui suddenly bursts into tears of joy, and we haven't even heard the offer yet.

'I... just can't believe it...'

'Believe it. You really are in this position. I must admit, I could never have imagined it way back at the start of the show, after that first round...'

The Banker rings. 'I'm sure he didn't either.'

'Hello? HELLO? Oh, there you...

...hmmm. OK.'

'He says, and I quote... the Banker's tactics never work when the players are this lucky.'

'And because of that... he has had to offer you, for Box 15, to leave the game...

...£40,000!'

Code:
       £1,000
       £10,000
       £20,000
       £75,000
1p     £300,000

BANKER'S OFFER: £40,000

Jacqui is still startled.

'You only have one to open in this round. If it is not £75,000 or £300,000, the offer will have to go still higher.'

'Can I ask Donald for advice?'

'Of course. Donald?'

'I'd still go on, simply because there is only a one-in-six chance of hitting £300,000 now, and even then you'd probably have a good consolation prize. However, this game isn't just about maths, it's about you, and if that's what you want then none of my figures will wash really...'

'Is that a bad thing?'

'Of course it's not, Jacqui. Of course it's not.'

Patrick asks for other advice. Meinir suggests a Deal, Bill a 'definite No Deal with two much bigger numbers', Caitlin a No Deal, Cyril a Deal ('you've come this far, don't let it go now'), Gavin a No Deal.

'Obviously, it's a huge decision... are you ready to make it?'

'I believe I am.'

'£40,000... Deal... or No Deal?'

A long pause. A very long pause. 'I don't want to... but DEAL.'

Jacqui bursts into tears, clearly delighted with what she has won while still fighting her urge to go on. 'I can't risk that... I know I should have, but I can't.'

'It was entirely your decision, you've made it, and you are going to leave this studio £40,000 richer than you entered it. But now we find out what could have been - did you miss out on more, or did you avert disaster?'

'I hope I averted disaster...' Jacqui cries. Such mixed emotions surround her decision.

'We go on as if you'd turned down that last offer. What would you have picked next?'

'Box... 16 please.' That's Gavin. 'If I knew how much it meant to her I'd have said Deal, Patrick.'

A groan. 'I knew it, but... I couldn't bear to look at my kids and say 'I threw away £40,000'... I just couldn't...'

'As it turned out...' - Patrick picks up the phone - 'you have indeed thrown away at least something, because had you gone on you would have been offered £56,000.'

Code:
       £10,000
       £20,000
       £75,000

BANKER'S OFFER: £56,000
DEALT AT: £40,000

'Now we need to see £300,000. There's no ifs or buts, we need it to make you feel better.'

'Box 8 please.' Wendy. 'I don't blame you for going, I'm really hoping this isn't 1p.'

Mixed reactions. 'It's not the £300,000, but we would now have been shaking even more... everything would have now hinged on one hinge, one seal, one flip of a lid that could have destroyed everything...'

'And because of that, we would now be back at £40,000.' Applause.

Suddenly, the mood is sombre.

'I can hardly bear it...

...the Banker has just said that, fearing you would blow £40,000... you have done exactly that. The offer would have been £80,000.'

Horror in the audience.

'Box 7... please... please...'

'We're all thinking it... please... please... Cyril, open it...'

Jacqui looks crushed. 'It all seemed so promising,' Patrick muses, 'but as it turned out there was even more abundant riches in store for you...'

Even he can barely pick up the phone and inform Jacqui that 'the offer now... would have been... one HUNDRED and fourty thousand pounds!'. The crowd are in shock.

'Ian, yesterday, had £20,000 in his box. For your sake, I hope you do too...'

Box 15 is opened...

...£20,000.

'Relief!' cries Patrick. 'Relief!' The crowd have something to smile about. £300,000 is revealed in Box 17 by a relieved Ewan - 'wish you'd picked me earlier, lassie' he jokes.

'We'll be back with another player and more drama after the break... if I can stand it!'

The third player will start tomorrow. This will be part three of four of episode two.

I like both games equally. It's impossible to compare this to Ross', in my humble opinion.
