This will become an occasional treat from me, hopefully every Sunday night. UK DoND in the style of Miljoenenjacht!

RULES:
* Audience of 250, ten blocks of 25
* Eliminated as per the Dutch version's first two rounds - the first is three questions with the left (red) and right (blue) side of the audience against each other (each right answer earns a point), the second between the five blocks in that side)
* Top 25 go through, randomly chosen 26th
* These 26 are whittled down to four with five questions, right answers earn one point for each person incorrect (so if only one person gets one question right it's worth 26 points)
* Top four individuals go through to the fourth round, 'Build The Board'
* It's a 60-second buzzer round, two points for a right answer, one deducted for a wrong answer. A right answer also doubles one randomly chosen board value, a wrong answer halves one. No value can be changed more than once, and the values that changed are only revealed after the round ends!
* Top two scorers face the final showdown
* This works like the new Dutch round at this point, but with a twist; a 'money clock' goes gradually up, either player can press a bailout button to leave with that sum of money (the other plays DoND), but if neither press it the clock 'explodes' and both leave with nothing, and the third and fourth placed players face the same round (with a different point where the clock explodes). If neither of *them* bail out, a random audience member - from anywhere in the audience - gets to play!
* Prediction bonuses for the 25 beaten finalists who get to guess what's in their case: £500 for each left unopened at that point, maximum £13,000.a

THE STARTING BOARD - remember, any of these values can be doubled or halved, although 1p cannot be halved

Code:
1p        £1,000
10p       £3,000
50p       £5,000
£1       £10,000
£5       £15,000
£10      £20,000
£20      £35,000
£50      £50,000
£75      £75,000
£100    £100,000
£250    £250,000
£500    £500,000

Top prize is therefore £2,000,000.

Episode 1 comng in the next hour!

The show is set in 2010 as a Friday night summer replacement on Channel 4 for Big Brother, and with this also being an Endemol show it's not a big shock to see Davina McCall as host. If there is one person you can trust to hype this to death it is her.

Episode 1: Friday, May 21, 2010

First we see the intro - a ripoff of the Dutch one, with a truck driving through a city at night. London, in this case, though the show is shot at Elstree. In fact, it's in a studio built on the site of the tenth and last BB house.

The set is much the same as the Dutch show though a bit smaller and less 'flashy'; two sets of five blocks of 25 on either side of a central corridor, staircase and podium.

Davina gets a big reception. 'Welcome to the biggest and best Deal or No Deal ever!' she cries, to a huge roar. 'There are 250 people in the audience tonight, and one of them could be about to win the biggest prize in British television history!'. Another roar.

'Forget Noel's bad shirts, forget Big Brother, forget the Banker... oh I wish we could...' Laughter. 'And forget no questions except one. To win tonight, you'll need brains as well as balls, good knowledge as well as good fortune. Because to choose our player tonight, we will first ask all of you a series of questions and gradually whittle you down to one person who will get a chance at potentially winning TWO MILLION POUNDS!'

The whole place goes nuts.

A few perfunctory bits of introduction, a plug for an LTL (Channel 4 reintroduced these properly in late 2009), away we go!

Question 1
In which country is the 2010 FIFA World Cup finals being held?
A: South Africa B: Brazil C: Morocco

The correct answer is A: South Africa. Scores: red 109, blue 101.

Question 2
Who became the new Home Secretary earlier this month following the General Election?
A: Ann Widdecombe B: David Davis C: Dominic Grieve

The correct answer is C: Dominic Grieve, who - as Davina explains - became the shadow Home Secretary after the resignation of Davis in 2008 over the issue of 42-day detention. Scores: red 160, blue 165. The blues have flipped this round.

'Unfortunately, for half of you this will be the last question.' Cue a big 'aww'.

Question 3
Which country used the guilder as its currency until joining the euro?
A: Belgium B: The Netherlands C: Denmark

The correct answer - and the Hidden Indicator Question of the Week - is B: The Netherlands. Final score: red 209, blue 222. Blues win!

Second round, now the five blocks in the blue side (numbered 6-10) play against each other.

Question 1
The new Boeing 787 is also known as what?
A: Dreamliner B: Greenliner C: Cruiseliner

The correct answer is A: Dreamliner. Block 6 lead on 18, with Blocks 8 and 10 on 16 and 7 and 9 further back on 13.

Question 2
Which of the following teams did NOT get relegated from the Premier League this season?
A: West Ham United B: Sunderland C: Derby County

The correct answer is B: Sunderland. They were 16th in the 2009-10 season, West Ham were 18th, Derby (having been promoted in 2008-9) were 19th. (Bottom of the pile were Reading.) Blocks 6 and 10 are tied on 29 now, 8 have fallen to last on 24. 7 have 26, 9 have 27.

Question 3
'Ag' is the chemical symbol for which metal?
A: Silver B: Gold C: Platinum

The correct answer is A: silver. and the final score, revealed after a commercial break: Block 10 win it on 49! Blocks 6 and 9 were tied on 46, 7 had 43, 8 had 42.

Onto the elimination round. But first who's joining Block 10? The 'random remote of doom' comes out... block 2, row 1, seat 4, it's Oscar!

Question 1
How many pounds are there in four stone?
A: 42 B: 56 C: 64

The correct answer is B: 56. 14 get it right. Irony, as Davina points out, as 14 pounds make one stone. That's 12 points for each of them.

Question 2
Which of the following cities can still receive analogue television?
A: Plymouth B: Southampton C: Carlisle

The correct answer is B: Southampton. It loses its analogue signal in 2011; Carlisle lost its analogue signal in 2008, Plymouth did so in 2009. 9 get it right, 17 points for each, and four people have both right. They've got to be thinking of the money now, you'd think. They are Michael, Paul, Dennis and Amanda.

Question 3
Who did Gordon Brown NOT blame for losing the General Election in his concession speech?
A: Himself B: Tony Blair C: Jacqui Smith

The correct answer is A: Himself. 21 people got it right, 5 points for each, but shock! Horror! Dennis gets it wrong! Two questions to go, and the three on max points are Michael, Paul and Amanda. Dennis is five adrift, some others are 12 back. The final two questions have four, not three, options.

Question 4
Which of the following Harry Potter characters is the odd one out?
A: Neville Longbottom B: Hermione Granger C: Draco Malfoy D: Ron Weasley

The correct answer is C: Draco Malfoy - Davina points out that he is in Slytherin and the others in Gryffindor. 13 get it right, 13 points each - and of the leading three only Amanda is right! She looks sure to go through. Dennis is right too, and two more are now ahead of Paul and Michael by one point; Oscar and Helen.

Question 5
Which James Bond movie shares its name with an earlier unofficial spoof film?
A: The Quantum Solace B: Casino Royale C: Goldeneye D: Tomorrow Never Dies?

The correct answer is B: Casino Royale. Just seven people are right, 19 points each - Amanda's not one, nor's Dennis, but Michael, Oscar and Helen all get it right and join Amanda in the final four!

FINAL SCORES: Oscar 56, Helen 56, Michael 55, Amanda 47, everyone else on less

So to the Build The Board round. Instead of listing every question in it, a recap of how it went.
Q1: Oscar buzzes, RIGHT.
Q2: Michael buzzes, RIGHT.
Q3: Oscar buzzes, WRONG.
Q4: Helen buzzes, WRONG.
Q5: Michael buzzes, RIGHT.
Q6: Helen buzzes, RIGHT.
Q7: Oscar buzzes, WRONG.
Q8: Oscar buzzes, RIGHT.
Q9: Amanda buzzes, RIGHT.
Q10: Michael buzzes, RIGHT.
Q11: Oscar buzzes, WRONG. Time up.

FINAL SCORES: Oscar 1, Helen 1, Michael 6, Amanda 2. Michael will face Amanda!

Four wrong answers and seven right ones mean four halved values and seven doubled ones. We find out what those are after the break!

Four values to be halved, seven to be doubled. Remember, the original board:

Code:
1p        £1,000
10p       £3,000
50p       £5,000
£1       £10,000
£5       £15,000
£10      £20,000
£20      £35,000
£50      £50,000
£75      £75,000
£100    £100,000
£250    £250,000
£500    £500,000
£750  £1,000,000

First to be halved... £75,000! Big groans, that becomes £37,500.
Next.. £75! Laughter as that becomes £37.50!
Third to be halved... £750! That's now £375.
'Another small one please!' pleads Davina... £50! She gets it! £25 there now.

'Now we want big ones!' cries Davina to laughter.

First up... 10p! That's now, um, 20p.
Next.. £20! That's now £40... producing the hilarious possibility of a £37.50/£40 showdown.
Next... 1p! 'Well I suppose you can't join that notorious club!' jokes Davina. Igor will no doubt be cartwheeling around his house now.
Next... 50p! 'This is unreal!' Two £1 boxes now.
Next... £10,000. 'Finally!' That box is now a second £20,000. Two more to go.
Next... £100,000! Big cheers! 'We needed that!' We now have a £200,000 box.
'This is our last chance to get a prize of two million pounds.'
The last choice... £35,000. It's still cheered, and that's £70,000. Your new board then...

Code:
2p        £1,000
20p       £3,000
£1        £5,000
£1       £15,000
£5       £20,000
£10      £20,000
£25      £37,500
£37.50   £50,000
£40      £70,000
£100    £200,000
£250    £250,000
£375    £500,000
£500  £1,000,000

That's the board, but will it be Michael or Amanda playing it?

We cut to the two facing their bailout buttons. We find Michael is a 31-year-old recruitment consultant from Portsmouth and Amanda is a 40-year-old nurse from Leeds. The money clock is explained, Davina points out that the amount it stops at is known only to an independent adjudicator and is concealed in a case held by a model on the staircase.

The clock starts.

£1,000

£2,000

£3,000

£5,000

£6,000

£8,000

£10,000

£11,000

£12,500

£14,500

£16,500

A pause.

£20,000

Amanda slams down her button immediately and looks delighted and relieved! 'Amanda bails!' cries Davina. Michael looks pretty pleased too, as it is he who will be playing for a possible £1,000,000! 'Michael, you've got the chance to play Deal or No Deal for £1,000,000... Amanda, you have £20,000...' 'I know! I'm going to pay off my credit card debt and take the kids on holiday to Florida.' Davina sounds very pleased. 'But where was the money clock going to stop?'

The case is opened... £39,000

Amanda grimaces, just a tad. Groans from the crowd. 'Oh... but you have £20,000!' is Davina's reaction, and that triggers applause.

As per the Dutch show a random contestant is bought on to fill Amanda's slot in the 26 for the predictions... block 9, row 3, seat 2, it's Carly!

We'll be playing for £1,000,000 right after the break!

We're back - there are 45 minutes left in this 90-minute show as the models walk down the stairs with the 26 cases. Remember, here's the board.

Code:
2p        £1,000
20p       £3,000
£1        £5,000
£1       £15,000
£5       £20,000
£10      £20,000
£25      £37,500
£37.50   £50,000
£40      £70,000
£100    £200,000
£250    £250,000
£375    £500,000
£500  £1,000,000

Michael gets to pick his case, chooses number 13 'because I'd only leave it out of fear if I didn't have it as my own'. Davina, who knows all about facing fear, says that's an interesting attitude 'but might be a smart one'...

We find out a bit more about Michael. He says he would love to own a sports car - 'a good bit of old-fashioned British grunt', to be exact - and to drive it from Land's End to John O'Groats! In the audience is his wife Niamh, whom he married in Ireland in 2008, but they still haven't had the honeymoon as they've been saving money for a house! 'Please don't say the honeymoon is going to be in this car...' says Davina, deadpan but to massive laughter. 'Might be,' Michael jokes. Niamh just shrugs. 'Do you get any say in this?' asks Davina to Niamh. 'I bloody hope so!' she responds.

Formalities complete, including the end of the first LTL (winner of £10,000 - Paul Wells from Somerset) and the start of the second, and the game is ready to start! 'Let the Dealing begin!' cries Davina, to huge applause.

Six to open in the first round.

21. It's Oscar! He predicts £20,000. Davina asks specifically for 'A' or 'B'. (A shows up highest on the board, and the case is marked accordingly. This is done for all duplicates if needed.) He says A... £70,000. Groans. 'Not very good,' Michael says.

2. An old lady guesses 2p. 'It's got a 2 on it!' £20,000(B). 'That's got a 2 on it as well, but it's got some zeroes too!' Davina says. 'Never mind,' Michael says. 'We'll get to the little ones soon.' 'Now would be a bit better than soon...'

3. Carly guesses £3,000. For £12,000 for doing sod all... 20p. And cheers.

24. The guess is the other £20,000... £3,000. 'It'll come round to the 2p at this rate,' Michael jokes. 'Nothing big in these two please,' Davina asks.

12. The guess is again £20,000... 2p! 'What did I say?' Michael calls out, with a spring in his step. 'That's the way to do it!' £1 already guaranteed.

23. Helen now, for £10,500. 'I hope I'm wrong but I think it's the million.' Gasps. 'Get used to this guys, it could happen all the time!' 'I really do.' It's opened... £500,000! 'Oh no!' cries Davina. 'You were so nearly right!'

So to the first offer of the new version...

Code:
     £7,800
----------------
          £1,000

£1        £5,000
£1       £15,000
£5       £20,000
£10
£25      £37,500
£37.50   £50,000
£40
£100    £200,000
£250    £250,000
£375
£500  £1,000,000

'£7,800 for case number 13 to leave the game now.' 'I didn't come for that. NO DEAL.' Cheers. 'Five to open.'

19. An old lady. '£10,000.' 'That's not there! It never was!' 'Oh, twenty then!' This really is the kind of thing that happens all the time on Miljoenenjacht, believe it or not... £250,000! 'Oh no!' Davina cries again. 'Should have steered well clear of her, knew she was a liability,' Michael jokes. Davina reminds him the million's still in play.

1. £500 guessed. £1(A)! 'Squeezing the board at both ends!' Davina says. 'Crazy isn't it?' adds Michael.

15. 'Fifteen grand in 15.' It's worth nine grand... £37,500. 'Oh good grief.'

22. '£25, gotta be.' £500. Cheers. 'Needed that.' One more.

20. 'I'll be pessimistic and say £50,000.' £250. 'Keep being pessimistic, everyone!' Michael tells the case-holders.

Davina points out the continued presence of £1m but also the danger of the board...

Code:
    £18,200
----------------
          £1,000

          £5,000
£1       £15,000
£5       £20,000
£10
£25
£37.50   £50,000
£40
£100    £200,000

£375
      £1,000,000

'Everything higher could go in the next round, but you could still win a million pounds if you play on.' Quick chat with Niamh, who says to play on. He does. NO DEAL.

'Big round this,' Michael says. He's right you know

11. The guess is £5,000... £5,000! With fifteen cases left that's £7,500 won! It turns out to be Keith, who hadn't been mentioned before - he was nowhere in the quiz.

26. No booyeah call here. 'Quid in here.' £1,000. That still gets cheered. 'We'll be in big money if these two are small amounts of money.'

16. The player nearly opens his case right away but Davina stops him! 'Oh! Er.... £15,000.' £20,000. 'Nearly!'

17. Davina points out the last three have all been from the right hand side... and calls a break.

We're back.

18. Guesses £15,000... £375!

Code:
    £39,000
----------------

£1       £15,000
£5
£10
£25
£37.50   £50,000
£40
£100    £200,000

      £1,000,000

Big cheers. 'That's a lot of money.' 'It is, but is it enough with a million still there?' Niamh says it might be worth one more. Michael says it'll buy a sports car 'but not much petrol anymore'. Laughter. A bit of thought... NO DEAL!

4. The guess is £40... £200,000! 'Uh-oh!' Davina says.

14. Guess is £15,000... £5! 'One more!' 'Please, please one more...'

6. The guess... 'A million.' Gasps. 'Why are you doing this to us?' 'To make sure somebody wins.' £25! Michael jumps for joy!

'You turned down almost £40,000 earlier. What will this be?'

Code:
    £57,000
----------------

£1       £15,000

£10

£37.50   £50,000
£40
£100

      £1,000,000

'DEAL!' cries Niamh. Most of the audience do likewise. 'Still a million there,' Michael says... 'Don't do it!' Niamh cries. A few minutes of thought, in which Davina points out that 'this is a big risk, with a possible massive reward - or it could go horribly wrong'.

In the end...

DEAL! Big hug with Davina, £57,000 is his!

Now we play on.

25. The guess is £50,000... £1,000,000!! 'How about that?' OPW secured with seven cases still on the board, a UK record. We play on for the case prediction but no proveout offers...

10. Guess £40... £37.50. 'Couldn't really be closer!'

5. Dennis also guesses £40... £40! £3,000 for him.

9. Guesses £50,000... £100

17. Guesses £15,000... £15,000! Two grand there for Martine!

8. Guesses £10... £50,000! 'What a deal!'

For giggles, a £5.36 proveout offer.

7, the final case. Guesses £1. £10. Michael's case 13 had £1!

Good game. I'd have probably gone at £39,000, if not £57,000.

Episode 2: Friday, May 28, 2010

With the country gearing up for England's attempt to avoid humiliation in the World Cup, it's a frenzied atmosphere in Elstree, with everyone madly excited. Davina says 'someone from England - or maybe Scotland or Wales...' (cue isolated loud cheers from odd audience members) '...will be getting the chance to play for a life-changing sum of money, POTENTIALLY up to TWO MILLION POUNDS!' Somebody's overdosed on the caffeine. Possibly the whole audience.

Let's hope they've got concentration, because it's quiz time...

Question 1
Which of these rivers is the shortest?
A: Amazon B: Missisippi C: Nile

Aha! Avoiding the oldest trap in quiz-writing, the uncertainty over whether the Nile is longer than the Amazon, in style. The answer is B: Missisippi, and it's a tie at 96 each after that one!

Question 2
In which Canadian city were this year's Winter Olympics held?
A: Toronto B: Vancouver C: Ottawa

It's B: Vancouver. Blues now have a lead, 169-162.

Question 3
Evo Morales was ousted last month as leader of which South American country?
A: Argentina B: Bolivia C: Chile

B: Bolivia is right. 'Wow, these questions are the B's knees!' jokes Davina to a few laughs. Blues win 240-234! 'Well, blue has a B in it and red doesn't so no wonder you won!'

Now for the battle of the blocks.

Question 1
In which historic town would you find the Maumbury Rings?
A: Dorchester B: Colchester C: Cirenchester

It's A: Dorchester. Near-silence in response, and no wonder - lots of people got it wrong. Block 6 lead with 12, Block 7 have 11, none of the rest have more than 6. Which is fewer than you'd predict to get it right by sheer luck.

Question 2
Who was sacked from the BBC last month due to 'excessive contract demands'?
A: Terry Wogan B: Graham Norton C: Jonathan Ross

It's B: Graham Norton. Most people got this, and Block 7 now lead with 32, to Block 6's 31. Block 10 have 27 and are still in this, while Block 8 has just 21 and Block 9 23.

Question 3
Which of these former soap actresses has not starred in a West End musical?
A: Martine McCutcheon B: Claire Sweeney C: Suranne Jones

It's C: Suranne Jones. 'How many of you guessed it would be B again?' Lots of people apparently. And mostly in the leading groups, as Block 10 race to victory with 44! Block 7 and Block 6 tied on 42, Blocks 8 and 9 tied on 35. Where did that come from?

So Block 10 enter the elimination round and are joined by... block 5, row 2, seat 1... come on Irene, it's you!

26 people all competing for themselves now.

Question 1
What was Arsenal's home stadium until 2006?
A: Highbury B: Anfield C: Upton Park

Obviously A: Highbury, and 21 people got it right for five points each. Four of the five to get it wrong were female.

Question 2
Manolo Blahnik is well known as a designer of what?
A: Handbags B: Dresses C: Shoes

'Revenge for the girlies!' It's C: Shoes, and of the 12 to get it right for 14 points, only three were male. Seven people got both right: Sue, Jennifer, Mary-Ann, Bryan, Clive, Patsy and Pauline.

Question 3
What was the first programme shown on Channel 4?
A: Countdown B: Brookside C: Channel 4 News

Aha, and now we realise what channel we're on! It's A: Countdown. Eleven get it wrong, fifteen get it right for eleven points. Four are still on maximum points: Mary-Ann, Bryan, Clive and Patsy. Four options per question now.

Question 4
Which of the following cities is not on a motorway route?
A: Winchester B: Brighton C: Portsmouth D: Lancaster

Winchester is on the M3, Lancaster the M6, Portsmouth at one end of the M27. It's B: Brighton - the M23 towards Brighton from London ends near Crawley. Just ten right for 16 big points, and only Mary-Ann and Patsy have got them all right now. Suranne is in the top four on 41, with Jessie, Daniel, Dennis and Vincent all on 32 and Bryan and Clive stuck on 30, joined by Iene.

Question 5
Carla Bruni was briefly married to which European leader?
A: Silvio Berlusconi B: Nicolas Sarkozy C: Gerard Schroeder D: Jose Luis Zapatero

It's B: Nicolas Sarkozy, thirteen right for thirteen points, and WE HAVE A TIEBREAKER! Mary-Ann got all five right to win on 59, Patsy's also through on 46, but Jessie, Vincent and Dennis all tied on 45, having got only question 2 wrong. So now it's an estimated guess question.

Tiebreaker
How many different number one singles were there in 2009?

Jessie guesses 20, Vincent 29, Dennis 40. The answer is 24, so Dennis is furthest away and Jessie and Vincent join Mary-Ann and Patsy in the Build The Board round.

Q1: Jessie buzzes, RIGHT.
Q2: Mary-Ann buzzes, RIGHT.
Q3: Jessie buzzes, RIGHT.
Q4: Jessie buzzes, WRONG.
Q5: Mary-Ann buzzes, RIGHT.
Q6: Vincent buzzes, RIGHT.
Q7: Jessie buzzes, WRONG.
Q8: Jessie buzzes, RIGHT.
Q9: Vincent buzzes, RIGHT.
Q10: Jessie buzzes, WRONG.
Q11: Mary-Ann buzzes, RIGHT.
Q12: Jessie buzzes, RIGHT. Time up.

Jessie was buzzer-crazy and it just about worked. FINAL SCORES: Mary-Ann 6, Patsy 0, Jessie 5, Vincent 4. So it's Mary-Ann and Jessie to face off in the final showdown, and one will play DoND... with a board to be determined after the break.

Nine right answers and three wrong answers! This could be a huge board. Davina is all excited.

Being halved... as chosen by the players alternately from an oversized tombola pot...

£10,000. That's now £5,000.
£3,000. To £1,500. 'Now for one from the left hopefully...'
£35,000. What did you say Davina? That's £17,500 now.

But no fewer than nine to double, and at this point there is almost a 40% chance of a £2,000,000 jackpot.

Here we go...

£15,000. Some cheers, that's £30,000 now on the board.
£250,000! We now have two £500,000 boxes!
£750. And we now have two £1,500 boxes...
£5,000. That literally cancels out the first halving... it's now £10,000.
£100. Groans. To £200.
Still four more chances.
£10. Big groans. 'That's no good!' £20 box.
10p. 'That's even less than no good!' We have a 20p box, whoop whoop. Not.
£1,000,000! Huge cheers! 'ONE OF YOU IS GOING TO PLAY FOR TWO MILLION POUNDS!' I think it's safe to say Davina has been told by Channel 4 to really emphasise the jackpot...
£1,000. Who cares now?

Code:
1p          £1,500
20p         £2,000
50p         £5,000
£1         £10,000
£5         £17,500
£20        £20,000
£20        £30,000
£50        £50,000
£75        £75,000
£200      £100,000
£250      £500,000
£500      £500,000
£1,500  £2,000,000

'How much is enough to make you walk away from that incredible opportunity? It's time to find out.' Mary-Ann is from Plymouth, 45 and self-employed, while Jessie is a 21-year-old actress from London. Time for the money clock..

£1,000

£2,000

£5,000

£10,000

£17,500
Laughter.

£20,000 More laughter. A long pause.

£22,000

£25,000

£28,000

£29,000

£31,000

£34,000

£40,000

Mary-Ann almost presses the button. Doesn't.

£42,000

BONG!
That's where it stopped and nobody bailed out! Now they must face a single question on the buzzer, and whoever gets it right plays. The other gets nothing, save a possible prediction bonus. If the player gets it wrong it goes over to the other. If both get it wrong a new question is asked.

Showdown question
How many feet are there in twenty-five yards?
A: 50 B: 75 C: 125

Jessie frantically presses the button, guesses 75... and is right! Mary-Ann looks shocked but says she couldn't resist the chance to play for £2,000,000. 'You could still leave with something,' Davina points out. Jessie could leave as the first multi-millionaire in British television history. Find out if she does after the break!

So here we go for £2,000,000. Your board:

Code:
1p          £1,500
20p         £2,000
50p         £5,000
£1         £10,000
£5         £17,500
£20        £20,000
£20        £30,000
£50        £50,000

£200      £100,000
£250      £500,000
£500      £500,000
£1,500  £2,000,000

Jessie picks case 5, as her dad's birthday is May 5. 'Could be the best late birthday present he'll ever get!'

She says that she's a massive adrenaline junkie and loves to take risks, but sometimes doesn't know when to stop... 'Jessie, that is either going to be the most comforting or the most terrifying thing the Banker can hear.' Laughter. 'Let's hope it's terrifying!' She says that as soon as she got the Manolo Blahnik question wrong - 'and I so knew it but pressed the wrong button in a rush' - she went 'hyper', and admits 'I've not really stopped!' 'Well, calm down a little, I know you're excited, and that's good. But this is serious business. Nobody has ever had the chance to play for this much money on British television ever and I really don't want you to take this lightly.' 'I could never do that,' she says. With her in the audience is boyfriend Mac, and the two want to buy a flat together. Jessie says she has her sights set on 'a lot more than that'. Mac visibly grimaces a little.

Formalities complete. £10k LTL winner is Christina Wilson from Manchester. But enough of that. 'Is Jessie about to become Britain's biggest game show winner ever? Let the Dealing begin!'

23. 'Mary-Ann can go first.' For £13,000 and partial redemption, she guesses... £10,000. £75,000. Groans all round.

6. Ryan guesses £500. £50. Applause. Sigh of relief from Jessie. 'I've never been this nervous on stage!' 'This is quite a stage!' 'I know, I know... moving on!'

10. Suranne guesses £1,500. 'A or B?' 'B.' £5. Cheers. Jessie moves right along.

20. Mark guesses... 'not out of spite, but two million.' Gasps of shock. 'I just feel it.' £75! 'You were SO wrong and I am SO glad!'

2. Daniel guesses £200. £20,000. No real reaction.

25. Bob guesses '£1,500, the one on the left.' 'That's A.' 1p! Jessie bursts into what can only be described as a 'squee'. 'A good start!' And a good offer.
Code:
     £15,600
------------------
            £1,500
20p         £2,000
50p         £5,000
£1         £10,000
           £17,500
£20
£20        £30,000
           £50,000

£200      £100,000
£250      £500,000
£500      £500,000
£1,500  £2,000,000

'Double the opening offer last week.' NO DEAL from Jessie about half a nanosecond later. 'We're not in any hurry!' 'You're not, but I am!' Laughter.

1. Nicky guesses £2,000. £500,000(A)! Jessie is silenced. Briefly.

12. Bryan. 'To shut you up good and proper, two million.' The crowd are horrified and boo him. Jessie is incensed! 'I now want to win even more, just so you can regret that childish remark!' Big cheers from the crowd. Davina must be thinking her new Channel 4/Endemol job is not that different to the last one. £20(B)! The crowd go crazy and so does Jessie! 'Take THAT! NUMBER EIGHT!'

8, then. vincent. 'Two... grand.' Laughter. 'You won't be laughing if this is two million!' warns Jessie. £100,000! 'Well it's not two million but this is now looking very dangerous.'

24. Pauline guesses 50p. £50,000. 'If I've got the two million that doesn't matter does it?' Some cheers, but Mac looks horrified. Davina notices this. 'Well looking at your boyfriend's face it matters to him!'

9. Clifton guesses £30,000. £1,500(B). 'Safe!' cries Davina. In as much as this board can be described as 'safe'.

Offer time...

Code:
     £28,000
------------------

20p         £2,000
50p         £5,000
£1         £10,000
           £17,500
£20
           £30,000

£200
£250
£500      £500,000
£1,500  £2,000,000

Davina points out that there are 'already only three higher'. It's in vain - 'I've already risked more than that tonight, NO DEAL!'. In fairness, she is right.

Round three then.

15. Paul guesses £10,000... 50p!

11. Lee guesses 20p... £200! Jessie starts dancing a bit. She's hyper again.

18. Jennifer guesses £500... £5,000. Still draws big cheers.

3. Thomas guesses £2,000... £2,000! Huge cheers! Thomas gets £6,000 for the correct guess... Jessie gets an offer... after the break...

We're back with one huge eleven-box offer coming up. Davina hypes up the situation, reminds us yet again of the £2m jackpot...

Code:
     £80,000
------------------

20p

£1         £10,000
           £17,500
£20
           £30,000

£250
£500      £500,000
£1,500  £2,000,000

Huge gasps from the crowd. Mac is begging Jessie to Deal. 'Take it, please!' Davina simply asks 'is that big enough to sacrifice a chance at £2,000,000?' and gets lots of people chanting 'yes', although plenty of 'no' criers crept in too. Jessie appears to mumble 'I can't go now, I can't go now...' before triumphantly crying 'NO DEAL!'. The crowd... well they can believe it but there's still shock in the cheers.

Three to go. 'I can't look!', admits Davina.

16. Patsy guesses... £30,000. £20! One primeval scream from Jessie, a few more in the crowd.

19. David guesses... £500,000, to a few gasps. £17,500. Jessie screams again. 'You can't take them BOTH out now!'

7. Tim... 'You're crazy, and I think you're right. There's ten grand in here.' £500! The whole crowd go nuts.

Davina tries to calm everyone down. 'Now... now, there are eight cases left. One of them contains £500,000... one contains two... million... pounds.' More screaming, which Davina curtails. 'BANKER! WHAT IS THE OFFER?'

Code:
     £124,000
------------------
20p

£1         £10,000

           £30,000

£250
          £500,000
£1,500  £2,000,000

Again much of the crowd cries 'Deal'. Jessie shrugs. 'There's no way I'm going to hit both of those two,' she says. 'That could be the most foolish sentence you ever say, honey. Listen to me - take that money' Mac replies. Davina again tries to moderate. 'You can see the reward... I presume, I hope, you can see the risk as well.' That line reignites the 'Deal' cries. Davina silences the crowd. '£124,000 - Deal, or No Deal?' The crowd again start to cry. Davina again shuts them up.

'Sorry... NO DEAL!'

Mac's face is one of unadulterated loathing.

Two to go. Jessie's face is flushing. The audience's heads are almost certainly reeling.

21. Georgia. 'I hope I'm wrong but... £500,000.' 'Just not two million,' Jessie insists... £1! The crowd goes wild!

'One more... if THIS is not one of those two... I don't even want to imagine the next offer.' 'I do!' Laughter.

14. Zoe. Guesses, very quietly, £10,000. £2,000,000! Silence fills the studio. One evidently-Greenyistic audience member is heard to laugh. Jessie cries.

'You could still win half a million pounds,' Davina points out. And the offer is still life-changing money.

Code:
     £54,000
------------------
20p        £10,000
£250       £30,000
£1,500    £500,000

'You've only got one higher, honey,' Mac says. 'I wanted the glory... and I can still get it. NO DEAL!'

22. Clive guesses £1,500... £30,000. 'Only one matters!' insists Jessie... offer... reflects that.

Code:
     £80,000
------------------
20p        £10,000
£250
£1,500    £500,000

Back to the eleven-box offer. 'Look, if you hit it now, you've got basically nothing. Quit while you're still ahead!' Jessie has a think, Davina points out 'the danger - and the glory'... and Jessie chases the glory. NO DEAL!

26. Irene guesses £10,000. £500,000!

Mac's face is a picture. Jessie is crying.

Code:
      £2,600
------------------
20p        £10,000
£250
£1,500

'No point anymore. DEAL.' Hardly a cheer. 'I'm not leaving with 20p.' Jessie is the first woman to lose more than £100,000 on a UK game show, ever.

The proveout must be done.

17. Aaron guesses £10,000. £1,500.

13. Sue guesses £10,000. 20p.

4. Dennis guesses £250. £10,000. Jessie had £250 in her box. But that means nothing. She wins £2,600, but for all her bravado, surely she must have regrets. 'Nobody could ever accuse you of cowardice, and I'm so sorry for you that your bravery was not rewarded,' said Davina, in a speech that is all too clearly what Endemol wanted her to say.

Second LTL winner: Chris Taylor from Bolton.
