This is a series by KP in which each 'real' game is replayed. Each Alternate Reality game leads onto the next, and the idea is that an all-new narrative of DoND's history is rewritten. Hence 'Alternate Reality'. I have started with Angela's game because it was a big turning point, with offers being very out-of-character in this game - that kind of variation is one of the things I at least mildly disliked, and am changing for this, but for anything else you'll have to stay tuned...

In general, I've taken things that happened on the real show but let them evolve - and obviously the further in time we go the less recognisable from reality we get. I've used Bother's Bar commentaries as my source material for what actually happened at the time as we saw it.

Player: Angela - has box 3

Angela is an administrator from London. She's bought her husband but isn't going to be asking him for any advice. Noel doesn't blame her for that approach, saying that there's 21 other people there for help if she needs it anyway

Formalities completed, Angela starts the game;

Box 4 (Andy) - 10p. Some pretty big cheers for an opening box there.
Box 21 (Jenna) - 1p! 'It doesn't get any better than this to start the game', Noel points out.
Box 22 (Ann) - £10,000. Noel says it's not really ideal but if it's the highest amount we hit this round it's still a great start.
Box 12 (Louise) - £50,000! Quite a groan. 'Not looking so good now.'
Box 6 (Irene) - £10. 'That's what we needed!'

Noel says that we can live with that opening round. The Banker says he's stuffed on Christmas pudding and claret but it is his duty to take Angela seriously!

Banker's offer:

£5,000

Angela says that's not bad but NO DEALS.

Angela fancies a quickie. 'Let's get on with this!'

Box 2 (Nick) - £750
Box 9 (Alan) - £100,000! Noel decides we'd better stop this and calls a break! Angela is quickly calling for another box but has to wait to reveal the contents of...
Box 1 (Gill) - £35,000! 'So much for a speed round!' jokes Noel.

The Banker says his Christmas feels a lot better now!

Banker's offer:

£3,000

Angela thought it would be even lower but NO DEALS.

She gets off her chair and paces around the studio to pick boxes.

Box 14 (Michael) - £1! Big cheers. Angela gets more excited now, and turns quickly to...
Box 13 (?) - £1,000. 'One more for a great round, we must not touch £75,000 or the quarter of a million!'
Box 16 (Pat) - £5,000. 'We're safe!' Angela is very pleased with that round.

The Banker thinks she's nervous, but not as nervous as he is

Banker's offer:

£11,500

Angela gives it a quick think and says it will help her, but NO DEALS. Noel says he hopes this pays off!

Box 17 (?) - £250,000! Angela reacts quite badly to that but Noel points out there is still £75,000 to be won.
Box 19 (Jenni) - £50. Noel says we need another blue to help make up for the previous box, and calls a break.
Box 5 (Gavin) - £3,000. Noel says that will also do but we cannot get away from what happened in the first box of the round.

The Banker says he can afford more claret now!

Banker's offer:

£7,000

Angela says she feels a need to play on, and Noel reminds her that she could still have 50p in her box, but also that there are three boxes significantly higher than this offer...

Angela says NO DEAL and the crowd cheer warmly.

Ouch, but the 75k is still there!

Angela says 'I hope I don't have 50p'!

Box 7 (?) - £5! Noel points out that if she doesn't have 50p then she at least has £100, 'which would pay for a few of the Christmas presents you bought no doubt'!
Box 8 (Arlette) - £15,000. A mixed reaction from the audience. Noel says the next box HAS to be blue.

Box 10 (Julie) - 50p! The crowd go wild and Angela breathes a huge sigh of relief.

The Banker says that he now thinks Angela will go to the end because she put so much emphasis on the 50p, which has now gone!

Banker's offer:

Angela said she was rather wanting to be the first person to leave with £250,000, and Noel says nobody has won £75,000 from the box, but that if you play on and take both reds out you might be lucky to get offered £250... She asks her husband but he says he won't get involved...

Angela DEALS with some reluctance.

Box 11 (Dave - who calls Angela a 'cracking lass') - £250. Not very cracking, as Noel points out...
Box 15 (Michael) - £500! Gasps. 'You couldn't possibly have taken both of them out...'
Box 20 (Lyndsey) - £20,000. An uncertain reaction to that, as Noel points out that she has either made a wise Deal selling the £100 box, or has made a rather bad Deal selling the £75,000 box...

Banker's offer would've been:

£32,000

Angela gasps. Noel said she went one deal too soon, but may still have made a good deal if her box had £100...

Box 3 (Angela's own) - £100! Relieved applause all round. 'So actually a good decision, you sold a £100 box for £12,500!'

Box 18 had the £75,000.

Angela said that while she would have been a lot happier if she'd gone one more round, she is very glad to avoid winning a blue after Simon did exactly that on the last show! Noel says we're glad too as we've never had two disastrous results in a row!

I think I would have done the same thing...if not then a cast-iron deal at £32,000
