For this extra-special edition of Alternate Reality DoND, I've got the real player in! This game was conducted mostly over MSN

Episode 56, January 5 2006 @ 4:15pm
Player: Dave- has box 21

Dave talks about the pressure to deliver after the week so far - 'but hopefully the luck will be on my side today and we'll see how things develop'. 'That's the way to look at it', Noel adds.

Box 1 (Robbie) - £15,000. 'Ouch - early blow but at least it's low enough not to worry'.
Box 2 (Liz) - £10,000. 'At least we're heading in the right direction'.
Box 3 (Vaughan) - Noel picks up if this is a system - 'who knows?' - £100,000! 'No way'. He then says £250,000 'holds up the game' and insists he's sticking to his system regardless. Noel talks up his 'courage in the face of adversity'...
Box 4 (Arlette) £1,000. Noel says we've never had an all-red opening round...
Box 5 (Pat) - 10p! Dave's chuffed. Noel says it's quite a good round really as there's a lot of big numbers left...

Banker's offer:

£4,321

Noel talks of it as a unique offer, Dave says it's 'very tempting given that round' but NO DEALS.

'Can you guess the pattern yet?' 'I think a braindead ten-year-old could have worked out the system by now!' 'I'm smarter than a ten-year-old though...'

Box 6 (Jenna) -£50,000! 'This is all falling apart'...
Box 7 (Gill) - £1! Dave's happy. Noel says this is the last box before the round, Dave says it has to be...
Box 8 (Vanessa) - and Noel asks what else it has to be and Dave says blue, and Noel says it also has to be preceded by a break :laughing

Dave says it's not bad but 'with three amounts hugely above that amount' NO DEALS.

Noel says to take the top three out would be an even bigger disaster than the chart career of Steps! 'Tragedy!' replies Dave! :laughing :laughing

Shock change of plan - 'there's only one box it can be - box number 10!'

Box 10 (Gavin) - £5! 'See, I've turned it around by changing up the system!'
Box 11 (Julie) - 50p! 'Woohoo!'
Box 12 (Terry) - 'Does this system actually make a difference?' 'No.' - £250!

Noel says there is still the £250,000 and two other life-changing amounts, Dave replies 'who said £35,000 was life-changing?'. The Banker says nobody's dealt at the third offer yet and nobody's won 1p, and one of those has to change...

Banker's offer:

£12,000

Dave says that's 'tasty'. Noel wonders if he will break new ground here... Dave replies NO... DEAL! He immediately worries what his parents will think!

Noel says we have to keep the top three in play, especially £250,000, 'to prove your parents wrong'!

'Unlucky for some... Ann!'
Box 13 (Ann) - 'Lucky for you I hope!' - 1p!! Dave goes a bit mental here...
Box 14 (John) - after Noel insisting the top three need to stay - £35,000! Both Dave and Noel point to the top two... Noel calls a break...

Box 15 (Michael) - £10! 'Nice!' he cries.

The Banker says that Dave can get out now, make everyone happy, and he thinks he wants to. 'Depends on this offer!'

Banker's offer:

£17,000

Dave breaths in sharply and admits to temptation. Vaughan starts to offer advice, but Dave asks very quickly for the question. Noel urges Dave to take time over this as this is a big decision but Dave wants the question before he changes his mind... NO DEAL!

Noel says this game is very often about gut instinct and Dave just showed guts...

Box 16 (Marie) - £750! 'Great start! COME ON!' Noel tries to calm him down by pointing out the top two can still go...
Box 17 (Andrew) - £100! 'YES!' Dave now says 'this is too tense'. 'There will be at least one life-changing sum of money at the next phone call... but how different that phone call will be if there are two.'
Squashdown

£500

£3,000
£5,000
£75,000
£250,000

Box 18 (Alan) - £500! Dave runs over to shake Alan's hand. Noel says it's a very long time since we saw these two amounts at five-box... and says his gut instinct proved a kick in the gut for the Banker!

The Banker says the only person more scared than Dave in this room is him...

Banker's offer:

£43,000

'Oh my god' is Dave's immediate reaction. The crowd's isn't much smaller. Dave considers the top two and asks Terry for the odds of taking them both out (30% as he points out).

'Well...I've had a great day out...but I think it's time to NO DEAL!'

Noel says that while this has been an extraordinary week this takes it to another level... Dave points out he has to take out one of the two boxes he planned on saving to the end...

Box 19 (Lyndsey) - £50!! 'GET IN!' Noel points out £3,000 is guaranteed but 'it's not over yet'...
Box 22 (Miguel) - £75,000! Noel says if this is the £250,000 Dave might be the show's biggest ever loser... 'this is the decision I didn't want to make'. 20 is 'more of a lucky number' so...
Box 9 (Gerry) - £3,000! Dave goes loopy as well he might. So does everyone.

Two-box showdown
£5,000
£250,000

'This, undoubtedly, is going to be a life-changing conversation'. The Banker admits he thought Dave had lost his mind and now insists that if he has, please find it again or you might just win £250,000!!

Banker's offer:

£102,000

'WOW' is Dave's only reaction. Followed by a nervous laugh. And then a wry smile. Noel says it is this offer or the chance of the £250,000... Dave says 'I know what I'm going to do - I'm a gambler...' The crowd gasp. 'Consider what is at stake... remember just how much you can lose, and also how much you can win, when I ask you this... £102,000... Deal or No Deal?'

'NO doubt about it - DEAL!' Huge cheers... Noel says Dave has undoubtedly changed his life and even provided a laugh along the way, but now we need to see what would have happened if he lost his mind! :laughing

Box 21 had...

£250,000

'So close, and yet so far. Still nobody has won it, and it could have been you...' Dave says he'd have swapped if he'd played on! Noel moves right along to opening Box 20 with £5,000, and summing up by saying that was an extraordinary game and proves once and for all the big money is well and truly out there to be won and all you need is gut instinct!

What a game!! (I bet he'd have swapped at 2-box anyway who who cares about the 250k in the box!). Also Box 8 and 11 had the same values as in his real game! :)

Great game...and I would have done exactly the same thing as Dave! A £5,000 consolation would have been unanswerable if I'd turned down over £100,000 to win it!
