Episode 59, January 9 2006 @ 4:15pm
Player: Jenna- has box 9

'We're on a roll!' Noel declares, after Dave's game was followed by OPWs for Pat and then Gavin. 'We need to keep this run going and kick the Banker while he's down!'

Jenna says she's disappointed she's not in heels for her game but jokes that at least it means she's not taller than Noel... 'they're all the same height lying down' she teases!

Anyway, enough innuendo, time for the game.

Box 7 (Lyndsey) - £10,000. Jenna says it could be worse.
Box 13 - £10. 'That's more like it!', Noel declares.
Box 10 - £3,000. Again applauded.
Box 15 (Gerry) - £500. 'If this is a blue, it really is an excellent opening round.'
Box 6 - £5,000. 'OK!' Jenna declares. Noel says the Banker will have his eyes glued to the big numbers and how they're all still intact...

Banker's offer:

£6,000

Semi-obligatory puff praise for the offer, obligatory NO DEAL.

Box 18 -£100! 'We're on a roll now!'
Box 1 - £35,000. 'First of the big numbers to go, but still a great block of four intact.' Jenna picks the newbie and Noel hopes this isn't a bad omen...

Banker's offer:

£12,000

Jenna says she's pleased with that but has bigger ambitions... NO DEAL, then...

Noel realises at this point that she has alternated red and blue all game so far... but wants that to end now as she's due a red with this box!!

Box 16 - £1,000. A few groans despite it being a good box... 'Yay, the next one can be blue now!' Laughter.
Box 14 (Geordie) - 'Do you think this can really be a blue, that this almost... spooky pattern can continue?' 'Hopefully it will for this box!' Laughter. 'Good luck lass.' 10p! 'This is actually an incredibly strong position now, providing that we can reverse this pattern and hit another blue before the next offer.'
Box 17 - 50p! The crowd is going crazy... this is a superb board!

The Banker says he's never known a situation like this before, and this is an unprecedented offer for this stage of the game and that Jenna could become the first person ever to Deal this early...

Banker's offer:

£24,000

Noel says you have to realise why the offer is that high. Terry says there's a lot of money on that board but it can still go wrong. Vaughan says you can't leave a board this good, and Noel says that the potential on the board is indeed very clear and the luck has been with the players lately...

Jenna hesitantly says NO DEAL and the crowd go wild. 'That was a big decision, a bold decision, and I really hope that it pays off for you.'

Box 19 - £750! The crowd are well and truly up for this now! 'Fantastic!' cries Noel. Jenna isn't sure what to pick now... Noel tells her to keep her concentration...
Box 8 - £75,000. Big groans, but Noel points out £250,000 is still there and that 'it was too much to hope for all of the big numbers to survive this round'... he then calls a break, still hyping up the position...

Banker's offer:

£30,000

Jenna gasps. Noel says that proves that the board was so strong that even the loss of two big numbers did not cause the offer to go down, and says there are still three above the offer including the £250,000... Geordie says 'the offer had to be huge, and it is - take all the time you need to think about it', and Noel agrees and says 'this is not a decision to be taken lightly'... Terry says there's a good chance of an even higher offer but it may not be worth risking anymore...

Jenna gasps, says she's ready... DEAL! Thirty grand!

Jenna said she couldn't believe she turned down the £24,000 and is relieved it worked out... Noel said it deserved to work out but now we have to find out if taking more chances could have led to an even bigger win...

Box 21 - 1p! 'So you weren't ever going to be the first person to win that... we have to see the quarter of a million in the next two boxes.'
Box 20 - £50! Jenna rolls her eyes in sheer disbelief. 'Oh no! At the moment, it looks as though there was even more in the game for you!'

Box 11 - £250! 'This is not going to be pleasant... brace yourself for a huge shock when you hear what the offer would have been...'

Banker's offer would've been:

£72,000

'One more round, and you'd have more than doubled your money...' Jenna is more shocked than anything, as you generally would with a board like that.

Box 3 - £100,000! 'Now we need to find the quarter of a million.'
Box 2 - £250,000! 'There we go!' Jenna is relieved... but then Noel points out there could still be £50,000 in the box...
Box 5 - £5! 'So it's either £15,000 or £50,000 in your box...'

I very nearly introduced the Banker's Gamble here but thought that it wouldn't thematically have fitted, after a run of OPWs and then the £72k proveout offer... needed a good long chat with Lewis246 to decide not to, though!

Banker's offer would've been:

£31,000

'So just a teensy bit more than you actually Dealt for... and if this is the £15,000, you've actually done a pretty smart thing, selling a box for double what it was worth...'

Box 9 had £50,000. Jenna isn't sure whether to be upset or not... Box 4 (Gill) had £15,000.

Noel says it was always a big-money game, and it sounds ridiculous to say that £30,000 was at all a disappointing result but in this context it actually was because it ends the run of beating the Banker... Jenna says she's very thankful for what she has won, and Noel closes by saying 'in that case, it was a good Deal'.

I was wondering wehn you were going to start this again, nice one!!

(I'd have got £72k there by the way, I didn't think £30k was enough for 8-box!) :)

This was probably the worst game I ever had to decide on as Jenna's real game was a £5k OPW and the BB commentary has very few hints on her likely utility function for a better game, and certainly not one THIS good!!

I considered a Deal at 11-box similar to that of her very near namesake in the real show, but decided to introduce a bit of WakeyNoel at that point instead, as I reckoned that would've been likely to emerge after this run of games. Remember, each AR game is based on the ones that have preceded it.
