Quentin turns away and throws his box against the studio wall in disgust. Everyone is stunned, but he calms down almost instantly.

'Well, well... I think you have more reason to be angry Wendy, because this is going horrendously.'

'I know... I know...' Hand in hat... '25.' Abbie. 'I'm going to have to give Quentin anger management classes!' she jokes.

Box 25 - £10,000

'At this rate, I'm probably going to just about be able to afford one tin of red paint to cover the board!'

'One more to open... already, we are entirely dependent on two boxes that must be retained at all costs.'

Hand in hat... '11.' Gavin. 'Maybe you're wearing the wrong hat?' he asks. 'Oh, no, I don't think so,' Wendy replies.

Box 11 - £1,000

'Well, that actually denotes some kind of improvement...' Patrick says over the most half-hearted applause you'll ever hear on an ITV1 game show.

'I tried everything... lucky hat, lucky bingo balls, I'm even wearing blue... guess it's come out as a camouflage outfit so I blend in with the game board.'

The Banker rings.

'Hello?

Oh, he quite likes that idea and would like to take the chance to tell you that it is just going to get better and better as camouflage as the game goes on.

OK, fine...'

*hang up*

'Well, in spite of the astonishingly bad round, he has gone up, in an attempt to make you leave with dignity. £2,000.'



'This thing isn't over... I can win more than that,' Wendy replies. 'I'm ready.'

'£2,000... Deal or No Deal?' 'No Deal.'

'Four key boxes... that will either seal your fate or provide a glimmer of hope.'

Hand in hat... 'I'm not giving this plan up, you know!'... '21.' Terry. 'How many ladders have you walked under this week Wendy?' 'Obviously one too many,' she jokes in reply.

Box 21 - £300,000

'...oh, Wendy...'

Terry just turns away and looks like he wants to do what Quentin did to his box.

Wendy still refuses to give up hope. Or give up on her system...

'23.' Donald. 'There's nothing actually mathematically wrong with this system - no system of box selection can change the odds,' Donald points out. 'She's just made one unlucky pick after another and frankly I'd want to either burn that hat or give it to my worst enemy.'

Box 23 - £10

We're firmly back in Channel 4 land with this game, in fact to be more specific that last week before the summer break!

'Well, it could hardly NOT be blue!' Patrick replies.

'Donald has reassured me that there's nothing wrong with my plan, so DON'T ARGUE WITH IT!' Wendy cries, to some applause. Next up... '17.' New guy Kyle. 'Wish I'd arrived tomorrow now!' jokes Kyle. 'Not a good time to come in!'

Box 17 - £5,000

'Somehow, this game seems to be heading only one way - catastrophe.'

'Not necessarily,' Wendy points out. 'One of these boxes has got £75,000 in it and it could be number 3.' Cue cheering.

'And it is that, and maybe only that, we can cling onto now. One more to open.'

The hand still goes in the hat... '6.' Meinir. 'If you don't want that hat any more, I must admit I quite like it, but I think I'd better avoid wearing it until I've played myself!'

Box 6 - £1

'Oh, thank goodness...' Patrick sighs.

'My thoughts exactly,' Wendy replies.

Very quick phone call. 'Everything's falling into pieces for you, and everything's falling nicely for him... hello?

...yes, yes, stop it, goodbye.'

'He says you are going to be this game's first casualty, and as a matter of urgency you should take £999.'



'Well, £999 is something, but £75,000 is a heck of a 'something' and I could still have it, so I'm not going to waste any time!'

'...oh yes you are, we're going to a commercial break!' In fairness, a break was overdue. Upon its completion, the inevitable No Deal, and the hand in the hat picks... '5.' Moirrey. 'I wish you all the luck in the world, for you really need it.'

Box 5 - 1p

Biggest cheer of the show. 'That, at least,' Patrick points out, 'is a monkey off your back.'

Hand in hat... and there is number 3. Hilarity. And she chucks the ball to an audience member, and dives in again... '12.' Zoja. 'What can I say? Be lucky.'
